Sarajevo – Mostar – Zagreb Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia

Sarajevo – Mostar – Zagreb
Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia
Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Hercegovina
The city between the winds from the East and the winds from the
West. Among the modern skyscrapers rise slender minarets of
mosques, in the middle of which stands the magnificent Catholic
cathedral, near the Jewish synagogue and little sideways Orthodox
church and monastery. Life in the modern Sarajevo runs through the
wide avenues with tram line between many palaces and Olympic
facilities. In the heart of Sarajevo is the real Oriental atmosphere, the
famous Baščaršija.
Mostar, Bosnia and Hercegovina
The city of Mostar is situated in a beautiful valley bedded between
high mountains of Herzegovina. It is thanks to the river Neretva that
Mostar was able to develop as a city in the desert-like landscape of
Herzegovina. Neretva’s size turned Mostar very early in to a trading
centre of the region. What makes this city known is its famous bridge.
The Old Bridge was built by the Ottoman empire in 1565. It was the
great architect Mimar Hajrudin who had succeded with the impossible
mission to cross the Neretva river with a single span stone bridge.
Zagreb, the capital of Croatia
When the Croatian people achieved their independence in 1991,
Zagreb became a capital - a political and administrative centre for the
Republic of Croatia. Zagreb is also the hub of the business, academic,
cultural, artistic and sporting worlds in Croatia. Many famed scientists,
artists and athletes come from the city, or work in it. Zagreb can offer
its visitors the Baroque atmosphere of the Upper Town, picturesque
open-air markets, diverse shopping facilities, an abundant selection of
crafts and a choice vernacular cuisine. Zagreb is a city of green parks
and walks, with many places to visit in the beautiful surroundings. In
spite of the rapid development of the economy and transportation, it
has retained its charm, and a relaxed feeling that makes it a genuinely
human city.
