Unit Title: Learn Letter, Number and Symbol Key Operation

Unit Summary
Virtually all jobs for today’s students will require some degree of computer expertise. Keyboarding skills
are a definite asset for professional as well as personal goals.
Keyboarding is a course designed to teach the touch-type method of keyboarding and beginning level
computer skills.
Students will learn to use the keyboard by touch and to develop their speed and accuracy on computers.
Students will also be taught the basic formatting skills needed to type personal and business letters,
reports, tables, resumes and use basic word art.
Primary interdisciplinary connections to common Core Standards:
Infused within the unit is connection to Language Arts and Technology
21st Century Themes including: critical thinking, problem solving, creativity, innovation,
collaboration, teamwork and leadership, cross-cultural understanding, global awareness, civic
literacy, and interpersonal communication.
Technology Connections:
Understand and use technology systems, select and use applications effectively and productively,
and exhibit digital citizenship by practicing safe, legal, and responsible use of information and
technology.

Unit Title: Learning Microsoft Word

Unit Summary
Students will learn to create and format a document, including using the toolbar, organizing the content
and customizing WORD to personal specifications. Document preparation covers arranging paragraphs,
manipulating text and using the tools. Students also learn to insert and format pictures. Others features
learned include creating letters, tables, reports and merging documents.
