$38,532pafor3daysperweek,plus9.25%superannuation.
Fringebenefitisapplicable.
Part-time,ideallywiththethreedaysspreadovera4-or5dayweek(thoughthisisnegotiable).Fourweekspaid
holidayperyear,includingtwoweeksatChristmastime
(whentheSydneyStoryFactoryisshut),pluspublic
holidays.
Thisroleisinitiallyuntil30thJune2017,andthencontingent
onsecuringfurtherfunding.

AbouttheSydneyStoryFactory:
TheSydneyStoryFactory(SSF)nurturesyoungpeople’screativityandwell-beingthrough
sustainedpersonalattentiontotheirwriting.Undertheguidanceofourexpert
storytellingteam,volunteertutorsworkwithstudentsone-on-oneorinsmallgroupsto
writestoriesofallkinds,whichwepublishinasmanywaysaspossible.Programstarget
marginalisedstudents,particularlythosefromIndigenousandnon-Englishspeaking
backgrounds,butareopentoeveryone.Allclassesarefree.
WorkingwiththeSydneyStoryFactory:
TheSSFisasmallorganizationthatisgrowingfast.Wehaveateamof13staff,or
approximately6FTEs,andacorpsofapproximately900trainedvolunteers.Ontheteaching
side,wehaveateamof4casualstorytellersandthreedeputystorytellers(part-time)who
allreporttoourStoryteller-in-Chief,RichardShort.Ontheexecutiveside,thereisa
developmentmanagerandsoonagrantwritertoo;ourvolunteerandofficemanagerCraig
New;andourprojectmanagerforStateofMind(ourfirststate-wide,year-longproject)
SheilaPham,whoallreporttoourexecutivedirectorandco-founder,CatherineKeenan.
Abouttherole:
TheAdministrationOfficer’smainroleistosupportourseniorstaff,particularlystorytellerin-chief,RichardShort,andexecutivedirector,CatherineKeenan,andtomanagethe
administrativeaspectsofourTeacherProfessionalDevelopmentProgramincluding
enrolments,managingpaymentsandreceipts,andrelayinginformationtotheBoardof
Studies(BOSTES).
Theadministrationofficerwillwork3daysperweek,ideallywiththistimespreadovera4or5-dayweekbutthisisnegotiable.Theadministrationofficerwillplayapivotalrolein
creatingandimplementingsystemsandprocessesthatwillensurethesmoothrunningof
theSSF,anditslonger-termgrowth.Itisarolethatrequiresverystrongorganizationaland
computerskills(particularlyfamiliaritywithGoogleapps,SquarespaceandXero),theability
toworkindependently,andtheabilitytojugglemultipletasks.AswithallstaffattheSydney
StoryFactory,thereisalsoanambassadorialroleaswewelcomevisitors,youngandold,
andexplaintothemwhatwedo.Anabilitytoworkharmoniouslywithpeoplefromdiverse
culturesandbackgroundsisessential.
KeyPositionPrioritiesandDuties:
• Managediaries,travelschedules,conferenceattendanceandothermattersfor
storyteller-in-chief,RichardShort,andexecutivedirectorCatherineKeenan.
• Provideadministrativesupporttothestoryteller-in-chiefandexecutivedirectorand
assistintheorganizationoftheirduties,forexamplecreditcardreconciliations,
expenseclaimforms,etc.
• Takeandmanagebookingsfromteachersandothercommunitymembersforour
TeacherProfessionalDevelopmentProgram.
• IssueinvoicesandreceiptsforTeacherProfessionalDevelopmentProgramusing
Xeroaccountingsoftware.
• RelayattendanceinformationaboutourTeacherProfessionalDevelopment
ProgramtotheBoardofStudies(BOSTES)asrequired.
• Completefortnightlytimesheetsforstaffandsendthesetoourbook-keeper.
• Managecommunicationswithboardmembers,includingthebookingofvenuesfor
meetings,circulationofboardpapers,andmanagingqueriesfromboardmembers.
• PreparepaperworkfornewstaffjoiningtheSydneyStoryFactory,including
contracts,superannuationforms,TFNforms,collectionofnewstaffdetailsetc.
• Assistwiththeupdatingofourwebsite(Squarespace).
• WorkingwithVolunteerManagertoassistwiththetyping,proof-reading,printing
andbindingofstudentwork,andtheoverseeingofvolunteertypists.
• Managepettycashandreconciliationatendofmonth.
• OccasionallyprocesssalesattheMartianEmbassyandGiftShop
• Ensurecompliancewithorganisationalpolicesandpractices
• Participateinandattendrelevantmeetingsasrequired
• Participateinstaffdevelopmentandtrainingactivitiesasrequired
• Superviseandmanageinternsandadministrativevolunteers
• LikeallstaffattheSSF,welcomethepublicandthelocalcommunityintoourcentre,
explainwhatwedo,andforgelinksintothecommunity
• Othergeneraladministrativeandorganisationaltasksastheyarise.
