Contact Details
As soon as know your Cambridge residence address, you must register your
contact details with UCEAP in the MyEAP ‘Contact Info’ section under ‘Address
Abroad While Participating in EAP’. Once you have obtained a UK cell phone or
if you intend to use your US cell phone number whilst abroad, please enter this.
If you replace your phone number, you can update this information at any point.
This must be completed by TUESDAY 1 JULY by 5pm
You must also regularly check your UC email address.
Cell Phones
Cell phones are called “mobile” phones in the UK. “Pay-As-You-Go” is the most
common plan for study abroad students as it offers flexibility and good rates.
Often UCEAP students purchase an inexpensive handset and a SIM card with
their chosen plan: either free texts or free minutes or a combination of the two.
For Further information on cell phone providers in Cambridge, please see the
PKP website: Communication, Internet & Phones
The Essential Programme Information webpage also contains very useful
information on what to pack and travel advice.
Travel
If you are going to be leaving Cambridge for longer than 24
hours, it is mandatory that you inform UCEAP by completing
the ‘Travel Signout’ form in MyEAP.
We must know how to reach you in case of an emergency.
Please let friends and family know where you are going and
when you will return to campus.
Travel Advice:
• Always take EUROP ASSISTANCE/USA, UCEAP Emergency Contact details
and Insurance information with you
• Research the area you are going, know where the local hospitals, police
stations, US Embassy are located. Know how to get help in case of an
emergency.
• Take a photocopy of your passport with you
• Be extremely careful with your belongings. Unfortunately pickpocketing
is common in all large European cities.

University of California and failure to adhere to any of these policies may result in
dismissal from the program.
