2014 AUGUSTS E PT E M B E R The Educator *****URGENT NEWS***** NEW TUITION ASSISTANCE REQUIREMENT—ELECTRONIC DEGREE PLAN Due to new Military Tuition Assistance (MiLTA) Rules of Engagement, we would like to remind everyone that electronic degree (e-degree) plans are mandatory for all degree programs (regardless of status and progress) by 1 Oct 2014. Effective that date, the Air Force will not permit a military member (enlisted and officer) to use MilTA until the member uploads their new e-degree plan (obtained from their school) to their education records. The e-degree plan differs from the degree plan used for a number of years by requiring you to identify and upload each individual course (by course number, and title) needed to complete your degree. In just a couple of months, the system will change in that when you apply for MilTA, the system will automatically check and verify the course you listed on your MilTA request against the e-degree plan in your education record. If the two do not correlate, the system will deny your MilTA request until you identify and upload your e-degree plan into your education record, and then you would need to reapply for MilTA. Tutorials on how to identify and upload the degree plan you receive from your school is available on your Air Force Virtual Education Center (AFVEC) under AFVEC Resources. If you have questions, the Education Center staff is also available at 632-5440. We recommend advance planning and be proactive ... do not wait until the last minute. If you contact your school, obtain your degree plan, and upload it to your education record, then you should eliminate future enrollment problems ... Oct 2014 will be here before you know it. If you have not already uploaded your new e-degree plan and your education record contains the older style degree plan, you will need to contact us before you upload as we will need to "obsolete" your old degree plan first. We need your help in helping you. In this case, please send an e-mail, Subject: New e-Degree Plan, to the Education Center Org Box at [email protected] and we can assist you further. 4-5 August 29-30 September 2-3 September 27-28 October Completing the 5-day Transition GPS (TAP) workshop is a mandatory prerequisite.
