US Trade Act Requirements
US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has
provided specific guidance in Frequently Asked
Questions (FAQs) concerning US Trade Act
requirements for shipper and consignee name
and address.
In particular, the FAQs explain what constitutes
sufficient address information to be included on
the rail bill of lading when the consignee is a
lumber wholesaler at a U.S. reload facility or rail
yard.
Reload facility or rail yard destination
CBP further states that the U.S. rail destination facility cited on the
rail bill of lading / rail manifest can be “a lumber reload facility
(the reload facility will be shown as the Care Of Consignee
party on the manifest), or a rail facility (the consignee will be
shown as the Care Of Consignee party at the rail yard or rail
team track).
Please carefully review the FAQs for applicability to your shipments
and be guided accordingly in your EDI rail bills of lading.

of lading.

shipped from Canada to the United States
“where the consignee on the entry (CF 3461)
is a lumber wholesaler, the wholesaler can
be shown as the consignee on the rail
manifest, providing a U.S. facility at the
manifested rail destination is included.”
