CORNER ENTRY SHOWER DOOR Series-1900A INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS Please read these instructions carefully to familiarize yourself with the required tools, materials, and installation sequences. The Exploded Diagram of the door on page 3 will also provide a helpful reference when relating the location of the various parts. IMPORTANT: Yo u s h o u l d c h e c k with your local plumbing or building code agency about this product for compliance before it is installed. IMPORTANT: One Corner Entry Shower Door requires two cartons. basic tools and materials needed MATERIALS TOOLS 6 FOOT FOLDING RULE OR MEASURING TAPE INSTALLED WALL COVERING AND SHOWER BASE (RECEPTOR) HAMMER ELECTRIC DRILL CAULK DRILL BIT----3/16" MASONRY BIT FOR CERAMIC TILE----3/16" SCREWDRIVER----PHILLIPS AND FLAT LEVEL FINE FILE PENCIL SAFETY GLASSES CAULKING GUN CENTER PUNCH how to care for your door NEVER USE SCOURING POWDER PADS OR SHARP INSTRUMENTS ON METAL WORK OR GLASS PANELS. The use of a squeegee following each shower is recommended to eliminate water spots on the inside of the glass panels. An occasional wiping down with a mild detergent diluted in water is all that is needed to keep the panels and anodized aluminum parts looking new. CAUTION: Tempered glass can not be cut. CAUTION: C a u l k s h o w e r b a s e a n d w a l l c o v e r i n g a n d allow to set 24 hours before installing shower door. Corner Bracket Roller Screw----# 8-32x3/8" Top/Bottom Track Insert Top Corner Bumper Screw----# 8-18x1-1/8" Top /Bottom Track PART NAMES FOR INSTALLATION Plastic Anchor 3 1 M ARKING AND DRILLING WALL JAM B M OUNTING HOLES Shower Head Can Be On Either Side Measure and mark on the receptor ledge near the wall, dimension"A" out from the back wall. Align outside edge of wall jamb with the mark made on the receptor ledge. Using a level, plumb the wall jamb and mark the five wall mounting holes with a pencil. Pencil Wall Jamb Level With a center punch, lightly punch the five h o l e l o c at i o n s f o r t h e w al l j a m b . ( O n ceramic tile, use a center punch to nick the surface glaze.) Tap the punch lightly with hammer so as not to crack tile. Use a 3/16" drill bit (a masonry bit for ceramic tile.) After drilling, thoroughly clean the recep t or led g e and wall. Insert p lastic anchors in all five holes. Repeat procedure for the other wall jamb. A NOTE: Wear Safety Glasses Wall Jamb Shower Receptor 2 Dimension A for a 36"x36" receptor = 34-1/2" Dimension A for a 32"x32" receptor = 31" INSTALLING ADJUSTM ENT BLOCKS Lay wall jamb on a flat surface. Screwdriver Adjustment Block Screwdriver Ad justm ent Block Wall Jam b Lip Using a phillips screwdriver, turn the adjustment blocks until they are all the way into the wall jamb. Do no t sc rew t he b lo c ks p ast flush as shown. Location Groove Wall Jamb 4 Slide an adjustment block into each end of the channel of the wall j am b as sho wn. Po sit io n eac h b lo c k o ver t he ho les lo c at ed b et ween 2 lo c at io n grooves. To secure block, hold in p lac e and c rimp wall j amb channel lip on both sides of the bloc k. (4 Plac es). Press d own firmly with screwdriver blade to crimp wall jamb lip, as shown. Tap screwdriver with hammer if necessary. Repeat procedure for the other wall jamb. 3 Wall Mounting Screw INSTALLING WALL JAM BS Install each wall jamb by aligning the holes in the wall jambs with the holes in the wall. Secure the wall jambs with 6 # 8x1-1/4" screws provided. # 8-18x1-1/4" Screw Wall Jamb Shower Recptor 4 INSTALLING FIXED PANELS Wall Frame Track Adjustment Hole Shower Side Wall Jamb Wall Frame Fixed Panel Wall Mounting Screw Adjustment Hole Track Shower Receptor Fixed Panel Front Side Sli d e t he w al l fr am e o f f ix ed p anel o ver t he wal l jamb. Rest the fixed panel on the shower ledge. # 8-18x3" Screw From inside the shower insert a Phillips screwdriver t i p t h ro ug h t h e ad j u st ment h o l es ( 2) and t urn t h e ad j u st m e n t b l o c k s c o u n t e r c l o c k w i s e ( o u t ) u n t i l blocks are firmly against wall frames. Install 2 # 8x3" flat head screws into the adjustment holes of the wall frame and secure door in place. Repeat procedure for the other fixed panel. 5 5 INSTALLING ROLLERS TO M OVING PANELS As s e m b l e t w o r o l l e r s o n e a c h m o v i n g panel with # 8x3/8" screws as shown. Steel side of roller against frame # 8-32x3/8" Screw Correct installation of rollers 6 INSTALLING PLASTIC CLIPS Plastic Clip Insert a p last ic c lip int o eac h slot in the b o t t o m fram e o f eac h mo ving p an el. Be sure to completely push the plastic clip all the way down into each slot. Panel Guide Slot 7 INSTALLING M OVING PANELS Top Track Roller Groove Install a moving panel by inserting the rollers into the top track roller groove and the leg of bottom guide into the bottom track slot. Slide the m o ving p anel b ac k t o t he o p en position. Re p e a t p r o c e d u r e f o r t h e o t h e r moving panel. Wall Frame Bumper (Bottom) 3 4" 4" 9 INSTALLING TOP AND BOTTOM TRACK INSERTS Insert Installed Insert Bottom Track Slide 4 inserts into the top and bottom tracks as shown. B o t t o m c o rner b ump ers are marked "B". # 8-18x1-1/8"Screw # 8-18x3/4"Screw Bottom Corner Bumper # 8-18x3/4" Screw Bottom Track Corner Bracket INSTALLING INTERLOCKING HANDLES AND SIDE FRAM E SEALS Side Frame Seal # 8-18x3/8" Screw Interlocking Handle Fr o m i n s i d e t h e s h o w e r, a t t a c h a n interlocking handle to side frame (side frame toward corner bracket) of each moving panel with 4 # 8x3/8" screws. Attach a side frame seal to the opposite side frame of each moving panel with 4 # 8x3/8" screws. 8 12 TESTING AND ADJUSTM ENT OF M OVING PANELS Top Track Slid e o ne o f t he mo ving p anels int o t he c losed p o sit ion. I f p an el s d o n o t c l o se t o g et h er smoothly, adjust one of the moving panels by loosening the screw(s) and tilting the panel to get a smooth fit. Retighten screws. Should the panel bind or not glide smoothly, loosen both roller screws and lower the panel an equal amount on both sides. Roller Screw Moving Panel Note: Small adjustment of the interlocking handles can be made by loosening the small adjustment screws that attach the handles to the moving panel and slightly repositioning the handles in or out to make fit smooth. Interlocking Handle Small Adjustment Screw 13 CAULKING DOOR CAUTION: Apply caulk around the outside of the door "only". Caulk applied to the inside of the door will cause leakage and damage. Thoroughly clean and dry all dust, dirt, or grease from bottom track and receptor ledge surfaces to b e seal ed . Wall jamb meets wall. NOTE: Allow caulking to set 24 hours before using shower.
