BEAR CANYON TRAILHEAD HIKE TO 7 FALLS
DATE AND PLACE: Bear Canyon Trailhead, North Bear Canyon Road, Tucson 85749
Sunday, February 26, 2017 from 9:00 am – 2:30 pm
TRANSPORTATION WILL NOT BE PROVIDED: Please drop your child off at the Bear Canyon Trailhead at
8:45. We will begin the hike promptly at 9:00 and will return by 2:30 pm
IMPORTANT: Your child will need at least 2 water bottles and a sack lunch. Comfortable shoes (not
sandals), sunscreen and/or hat. There are places to wade in the water but I expect it will be cold.
The hike to 7 falls from the Bear Canyon Trailhead is about 7 miles round trip. There are two places that it is
necessary to cross the river, usually on rocks, and feet could get wet depending on weather and agility.
Directions to Bear Canyon Trailhead from Our Mother of Sorrows:
Head North on Kolb. Take a right on Speeway Blvd and head East. Take a left onto Pantano and
head North. Stay in the right lane and Pantano will merge onto Tanque Verde Rd. Head East on Tanque
Verde to Bear Canyon Rd. Take a left on Bear Canyon and head North into residential area.
We will meet on Bear Canyon Road just before the end of the pavement. There is a gravel area in the middle
of street. If you see a sign that says trailhead to the left then you have passed our meeting point. There is
very little parking and it is a narrow road that leads to the trail. We will wait there until 9:00. It is a 5 minute
walk from our meeting point to the trailhead.

me know the best way to contact you.
Please Note: This hike is in a potential flash flood area so if there is risk of rain, we will cancel the event. If
we have started the hike and a risk appears, we will head out early…so keep in that in mind when you are
planning your day.
