ELFFIE'S COOKIE 8" Sitting ELFFIE'S BODY-Trace body on doubled tea dyed muslin. Cut'/«" larger than traced lines. This will allow you to work on a flat construction which is much easier to do than when doll is stuffed. On right side of piece with lines drawn on it, draw on eyes and eyebrows with 05 black pigma pen. Check pattern piece for placement. Blush cheeks with Candy Bar Brown Paint by using a stencil brush. Dip end of stencil brush in paint lid. Using a piece of paper towel, brush out on towel until most of paint is out. Then brush on fabric until desired shade. (If you have never done this before, try it out on a piece of scrap muslin first). Using the head of stick pin, dip stick pin in antique white paint. Dip on fabric at cheeks for highlight dots. See pattern for placement. Place body piece RST. Stitch all the way around traced lines. Clip curves. Square off bottom corners by matching side and bottom seams and sewing '/<" from points. Cut off points. Cut slit in back. Turn RSO. Stuff head. Pour in % cup pool sand or doll pellets in bottom. Stuff rest of body. Whipstitch back closed. Set aside. ELFFIE'S ARMS-Trace 2 arms on doubled tea dyed muslin. Stitch on trace lines leaving open where indicated. Cut%" larger than stitched lines. Clip curves. Turn RSO. Stuff to stuff line. Stitch across. Leave upper arm unstuffy. Hand gather top of arm. Pull threads tight. Tie off. Sew to body. ELFFIE'S LEGS—Cut 2 legs of green stripe fabric making sure stripes are running across leg and NOT UP & DOWN. Fold and sew seam down 7" side and across on one 1" side using 1/8" seam. Turn RSO. Stuff to stuff line. Stitch across. Leave top section unstuffed. Sew across top to hold shut. Sew legs to Elffie's body. ELFFIE'S StflRT-Cut 1 shirt bodice on doubled burgundy calico. Sew shoulder seams using V" seams. Press seam open. Top stitch close to neck opening to hold seam down. Cut 2 sleeves from burgundy calico 6" wide x 6" long. Run a machine gather stitch V" in from upper edge and 1/8" in from upper edge. Place center sleeve on center seam of bodice. Place outer sleeve edges on sleeve placement marks as shown on pattern piece. Pull threads to adjust gathers. Stitch across. Sew arm and side seams using V" seam. Clip underarm. Turn sleeve cuff under 1". Starting at center top of sleeve, run a hand gather stitch using 25m burgundy pearl cotton. Turn RSO. Place shirt on small elf. Pull threads at wrists. Adjust gathers. Tie in small bow. Hot glue bottom of shirt to body so it won't slide out of pants later. ELFFIE'S PANTS-Cut 2 green plaid homespun 8" long x 8" wide. Sew down two of the 8" sides for side seams. See pant diagram. Cut 4" slit in center of pants for legs. Turn RSO. Whipstitch 2 contrasting patches to knee approximately 3 Vi" up from bottom edge of pant leg. With RST, stitch leg seam using V" seam. Clip crotch. Turn RSO. Turn waistband under 1A" Starting at center front and 1/8" up from raw ELFFIE'S COOKIE PAGE 2 ELFFIE'S PANTS CONTINUED-edge, run a hand gathering stitch around waistband using 25m hunter green pearl cotton. Roll pants legs up Vi", then another '/z". Set aside. ELFFIE'S SHOULDER STRAPS-Cut 2 straps from green plaid homespun 2" side x 8" long using '/<" seam. Turn RSO. Press. Hot glue shoulder straps to elf s shirt criss-crossing straps in back. See dia 1. Slip pants on elf. Pull threads at waist. Adjust gathers. Tie in small bow. ELFFIE'S SHOES—Cut 4 shoe tops from hunter green felt. Sew across top of shoe and shoe point with RST using 1/8" seam. See dia 2. Clip curves. Cut 2 shoe souls from Hunter green felt With wrong sides together, pin soul to shoe top matching center back and center front points easing felt in. Top stitch 1/8" in from outer edges all the way around shoe. Pink outer edges. DO NOT TURN. Stuff shoe through hold opening. Set aside. Cut 4 shoe hoods from Hunter green felt Place two hoods together. Top stitch 1/8" in from outer edges all around shoe hood. Pink around outer edges. Fold in half. Sew to x's marked on pattern piece using 1/8" seam. Turn RSO. Slip on legs with points towards top. Let hang for now. Slip end of leg in shoe about Vi". Stitch shoe opening to leg. Now pull down shoe hood so it touches shoe top and hood seam is on center front of shoe top. Whip stitch shoe hood to shoe top. Sew 13mm bells to points on shoe. Cut 4 shoe tongues from hunter green felt. Place two tongues together. Top stitch 1/8" in from outer edges all the way around tongue. Pink outer edges. Hot glue lower edge of tongue to bottom front of shoe hood. Bend tongue over slightly. Make a bow from Vi" burgundy ribbon by scrunching in middle. Wrap thread around 3 times pulling tightly. Hot glue to front of shoe on bottom of tongue. ELFFIE'S NOSE-Paint a 1/8" plug using Fleshtone paint Let dry. Dry brush Candy Bar Brown paint on upper part of nose by dipping stencil brush in paint lid and dabbing out on paper towel until most of paint is out Then brush on upper half of plug. See dia 3. Using end of stick pin, dip in antique white paint Now dab 3 highlight dots on nose. Glue to small elf s face just below eyes. Let dry. Hot glue glasses to small elf s head. You may have to cut stems of glasses with wire cutter so they fit elf s head. ELFFIE'S EARS—Trace ear on doubled tea-dyed muslin. Lay traced ear on doubled piece of Warm & Natural. Sew on traced lines leaving open where indicated. Cut YA" larger than traced lines. Clip curves. Turn RSO. Press. Stitch across opening to hold shut Top stitch 1A" in from ear edge. See pattern piece. Blush inner ear in the same fashion that you did elf s cheeks. Turn ears under on fold line. Press. Run hot glue along folded section. Hot glue to head over wire on glasses. ELLFIE'S HAT-Cut out hat crown from green plaid homespun. Sew side seams using '/«" seam. Cut hat brim on doubled green felt. Sew brim pieces together by top stitching 1/8" on bottom and sides and top stitching %" on top points. Pink top points close to stitching. Sew down back seam using YA" seam. Pin wrong side of hat crown to right side of hat brim matching center front and backs. Stitch around entire edge of cap using'/«" seam. Turn RSO. Fold brim up. Press. Sew three 13 mm bells to each outer points. Sew 2 contrasting patches to hat. See pattern piece for placement. Stuff hat about halfway up. Hot glue to small elf s head. Make a burgundy bow by criss-crossing 'A" ribbon then scrunch in middle. Wrap thread around middle about 3 times pulling thread right Tie off. Sew 13mm bell to center. Hot glue to tip of hat. Glue YA" green buttons to front of shirt. GINGERBREAD-Trace gingerbread on doubled layer of tan felt. Lay traced felt on doubled layer of Warm & Natural. Stitch all the way around traced lines. Cut'/«" larger than stitch lines. Clip curves. Cut slit through one layer of felt (the side without the Warm & Natural on it) Turn RSO. Stuff lightly. Whip stitch back closed Sew 2 tiny black beads on for eyes starting at back (on top of closed slit) and runnig up throught front of head and back to slit puiling slightly to indent beads. Whipstitch white baby rick-rack all the way around gingerbread starting at center leg using #12 white pearl cotton. Now sew two snaps down center front pulling slightly to indent. (Start at back and pull all the way through). Blush cheeks with powder blush. Cut a homespun strip 5" long x 1 Vi wide. Tie in knot Cut to desired length. Hot glue to gingerbread's neck. Hot glue gingerbread to front of elf as though he was holding it. That's it. Enjoy!!!
