1. What You Believe Changes What You Taste
(Aka Don’t Listen To Taste “Experts”)

2. Blushing Is An Adaptive Signal
3. Why We Can’t Tickle Ourselves
“The answer lies at the back of the brain in an
area called the cerebellum, which is involved in
monitoring movements. …[t]he cerebellum can
predict sensations when your own movement
causes them but not when someone else does.
When you try to tickle yourself, the cerebellum
predicts the sensation and this prediction is
used to cancel the response of other brain areas
to the tickle….Further studies using robots
showed that the presence of a small delay
between your own movement and the resulting
tickle can make the sensation feel tickly. Indeed,
the longer the delay, the more tickly it feels.”

“They’re Made Out Of Meat”
Terry Bisson
-
"Meat. They're made out of meat."!
-
"That's impossible. What about the radio signals? The messages to the stars?"!
-
"So who made the machines? That's who we want to contact."!
"Meat?"!
"There's no doubt about it. We picked up several from different parts of the planet, took them
aboard our recon vessels, and probed them all the way through. They're completely meat."!
"They use the radio waves to talk, but the signals don't come from them. The signals come from
machines."!
"They made the machines. That's what I'm trying to tell you. Meat made the machines."!
"That's ridiculous. How can meat make a machine? You're asking me to believe in sentient meat."!
"I'm not asking you, I'm telling you. These creatures are the only sentient race in that sector and
they're made out of meat."
