2017 Summer Camp
Welcome
In a world filled with smartphones, tablets and
digital-at-your-fingertips-everything, we need to
make conscious choices for ourselves and our
children. Girl Scout summer camp provides a much
needed and timeless experience where girls can
grow and learn together.
Our camps offer a classic summer camp experience
with an emphasis on independence, living as part
of a community in the outdoors, and of course,
leadership. Girl Scouts of Central and Western
Massachusetts is committed to providing campers
with a safe place to play, learn, and grow in an
environment where respect and responsibility are
valued Girl Scout Camp provides an environment
where a girl can unplug from her busy year-round
schedule and just be a kid. Where else can girls
paddle in the sun after breakfast, shoot arrows
before lunch, sing countless songs, eat a familystyle meal in the dining hall, and sleep under the
stars, all in a girl-only environment?
Happy Trails,
The Program Team at GSCWM
CAMPER$HIP
HELP A GIRL GO TO CAMP
Give the gift of camp! GSCWM camps are a great time
for personal growth and discovery, but unfortunately
in these difficult economic times, sending a girl to
camp is not financially feasible for some families.
While the experience is invaluable, many girls will have
to miss out on the opportunity to enjoy all that camp
has to offer if financial assistance is not available.
ACA
ACCREDITATION
AND
SAFETY/HEALTH
REGULATIONS
The American Camp Association
is the world’s premier organization
dedicated to promoting the safety
and quality of camp programs.
As part of the accreditation
process, many of GSCWM’s camps
voluntarily participate in periodic
visits by trained and certified
camp visitors with the purpose
of verifying our compliance with
high standards in the areas of
personnel, program administration,
and site and facility safety. Camps
Bonnie Brae, Green Eyrie and Lewis
Perkins are officially accredited,
however, all GSCWM camps
maintain the same high levels
of safety and quality in camp
programming by following ACA
guidelines.
In addition to the safety
guidelines outlined by the
American Camp Association and
Girl Scouts of the USA, all GSCWM
camps comply with regulations of
the Massachusetts Department
of Public Health and are licensed
by local boards of health. For more
information about these state
regulations, call 617-624-5757.
Please consider supporting local girls with the gift of
camp! You may never meet her. You may never know
her. But you can rest assured you have given a young
girl the opportunity to grow which will impact her
future decisions, her belief in herself and her ability
to succeed at home and school. Visit http://bit.ly/
GSCWMCamp to make your gift today.

with children or have earned their Program Aide
award prior to arriving at camp. Camp Apprentices
make a valuable contribution to the camp community while building their own leadership skills. Girls
in this program will spend the first half of the week
learning the ins and outs of working with younger
girls at camp. The second half of the week will be
spent working directly with girls. If girls sign up for
more than one session, they may have the opportunity to assist counselors starting on Monday, depending upon their skill level.
