The Gathering
Please stand for the opening hymn
1
Christ is made the sure foundation,
Christ the head and cornerstone,
chosen of the Lord, and precious,
binding all the Church in one,
Holy Sion's help for ever,
and her confidence alone.
2
To this temple, where we call thee,
come, O Lord of Hosts, today;
with thy wonted loving-kindness
hear thy servants as they pray,
and thy fullest benediction
shed within its walls alway.
4
Here vouchsafe to all thy servants
what they ask of thee to gain,
what they gain from thee, for ever
with the blessèd to retain,
and hereafter in thy glory
evermore with thee to reign.
5
Laud and honour to the Father,
laud and honour to the Son,
laud and honour to the Spirit,
ever Three, and ever One,
consubstantial, co-eternal,
while unending ages run.

and cleanse us from our sin.
Renew a right spirit within us

The Conference Collect
Pour out your Holy Spirit, Lord,
upon your church
that it may grow in faith, hope and love.

and rejoice as citizens of your Kingdom;
through Jesus Christ,

All Amen.

The Liturgy of the Word
Please sit for the Readings
Old Testament Reading
1 Chronicles 29:1-5
King David said to the whole assembly, ‘My son Solomon, whom
alone God has chosen, is young and inexperienced, and the work is
great; for the temple will not be for mortals but for the Lord God.
2
So I have provided for the house of my God, so far as I was able, the
gold for the things of gold, the silver for the things of silver, and the
bronze for the things of bronze, the iron for the things of iron, and
wood for the things of wood, besides great quantities of onyx and
stones for setting, antimony, coloured stones, all sorts of precious
stones, and marble in abundance. 3Moreover, in addition to all that I
have provided for the holy house, I have a treasure of my own of
gold and silver, and because of my devotion to the house of my God I
give it to the house of my God: 4three thousand talents of gold, of
the gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of refined silver, for
overlaying the walls of the house, 5and for all the work to be done by
artisans, gold for the things of gold and silver for the things of silver.
Who then will offer willingly, consecrating themselves today to the
Lord?’
For the word of the Lord
All Thanks be to God.

We stand to sing the Gradual Hymn
1
All I once held dear, built my life upon,
all this world reveres, and wars to own,
all I once thought gain I have counted loss;
spent and worthless now, compared to this.
Knowing you, Jesus
Knowing you, there is no greater thing.
You're my all, you're the best,
you're my joy, my righteousness,
and I love you, Lord.
2
Now my heart's desire is to know you more,
to be found in you and known as yours,
to possess by faith what I could not earn,
all-surpassing gift of righteousness.
Knowing you, Jesus…
3
Oh, to know the power of your risen life,
and to know you in your sufferings.
To become like you in your death, my Lord,
so with you to live and never die.
Knowing you, Jesus…
Graham Kendrick (b.1950)

Gospel Reading
Matthew 16:13-18
Hear the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Matthew,
chapter 16
All Glory to you, O Lord.
Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, he asked
his disciples, ‘Who do people say that the Son of Man is?’ 14And they
said, ‘Some say John the Baptist, but others Elijah, and still others
Jeremiah or one of the prophets.’ 15He said to them, ‘But who do you
say that I am?’ 16Simon Peter answered, ‘You are the Messiah, the Son
of the living God.’ 17And Jesus answered him, ‘Blessed are you, Simon
son of Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my
Father in heaven. 18And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I
will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it.
This is the Gospel of the Lord.
All Praise to you, O Christ.
Sermon
The Creed
Let us affirm our faith in Jesus Christ the Son of God.
All Though he was divine,
he did not cling to equality with God,
but made himself nothing.
Taking the form of a slave,
he was born in human likeness.
He humbled himself
and was obedient to death,
even the death of the cross.
Therefore God has raised him on high,
and given him the name above every name:
that at the name of Jesus
every knee should bow,
and every voice proclaim
that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father. Amen.
(Philippians 2:6-11)

Prayers of Intercession
In place of formal intercessions, everyone is invited to write on the baggage label
what they would like to commend to God’s keeping while at this conference,
and place these in the suitcase.
The Liturgy of the Sacrament
The Peace – please stand
May the God of peace sanctify you:
may he so strengthen your hearts in holiness
that you may be blameless before him
at the coming of our Lord Jesus with his saints.
(1 Thessalonians 5:23; 3:13)
The peace of the Lord be always with you
All and also with you.
Let us offer one another a sign of peace.
All are invited to exchange a sign of peace.
10
Preparation of the Table
Taking of the Bread and Wine
During the hymns the bread and wine are brought to the altar.
Majesty, worship his majesty;
unto Jesus be glory, honour and praise.
Majesty, kingdom authority
flows from his throne unto His own:
his anthem raise.
So exalt, lift up on high the name of Jesus;
magnify, come glorify Christ Jesus the King.
Majesty, worship his majesty,
Jesus who died, now glorified,
King of all kings.
Jack W Hayford
1
Jesus Christ, I think upon your sacrifice,
you became nothing,
poured out to death.
Many times, I've wondered at your gift of life,
and I'm in that place once again.
I'm in that place once again
Chorus
And once again I look upon the cross where you died,
I'm humbled by your mercy and I'm broken inside.
Once again I thank you,
once again I pour out my life.
2
Now you are exalted to the highest place,
King of the heavens, where one day I'll bow.
But for now, I marvel at this saving grace,
and I'm full of praise once again.
I'm full of praise once again.
11
Chorus
And once again I look upon the cross where you died,
I'm humbled by your mercy and I'm broken inside.
Once again I thank you,
once again I pour out my life.
Thank you for the cross,
thank you for the cross,
thank you for the cross, my friend.
Matt Redman (b.1974)
The president takes the bread and wine.
To you we come, Father of lights,
with angels and saints,
where heaven and earth unite.
May Jesus meet us in the breaking of the bread.
All Amen.
The Eucharistic Prayer
Please remain standing for the Eucharistic Prayer
The Lord is here.
All His Spirit is with us.
Lift up your hearts.
All We lift them to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
All It is right to give thanks and praise.
It is indeed right, our duty and our joy
that we should always sing of your glory,
holy Father, almighty and eternal God,
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord.
12
For you are the hope of the nations,
the builder of the city that is to come.
Your love made visible in Jesus Christ
brings home the lost,
restores the sinner
and gives dignity to the despised.
In his face your light shines out,
flooding lives with goodness and truth,
gathering into one in your kingdom
a divided and broken humanity.
Therefore with all who can give voice in your creation
we glorify your name,
for ever praising you and saying:
All Holy, holy, holy Lord,
God of power and might.
Heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.
We praise you, loving Father, through Jesus Christ, our Lord;
and as we obey his command,
send your Holy Spirit, that broken bread and wine outpoured
may be to us the body and blood of your dear Son.
On the night before he died he had supper with his friends
and, taking bread, he praised you.
He broke the bread, gave it to them and said:
Take, eat, this is my body which is given for you;
do this in remembrance of me.
13
When supper was ended he took the cup of wine.
Again he praised you, gave it to them and said:
Drink this, all of you; this is my blood of the new covenant,
which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins.
Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.
So, Father, we remember all that Jesus did,
in him we plead with confidence his sacrifice
made once for all upon the cross.
Bringing before you the bread of life and cup of salvation,
we proclaim his death and resurrection until he comes in glory.
Great is the mystery of faith:
All Christ has died,
Christ is risen,
Christ will come again.
Lord of all life, help us to work together for that day
when your kingdom comes
and justice and mercy will be seen in all the earth.
Look with favour on your people, gather us in your loving arms and
bring us with all the saints to feast at your table in heaven.
Through Christ, and with Christ, and in Christ,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
all honour and glory are yours, O loving Father,
for ever and ever.
All Amen.
Please kneel or sit while a time of silence is kept
14
The Lord’s Prayer
Uniting our prayers with the whole company of heaven,
as our Saviour taught us, so we pray
All Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name;
your kingdom come;
your will be done;
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours
now and for ever. Amen.
Breaking of the Bread
The president breaks the consecrated bread.
We break this bread
to share in the body of Christ.
All Though we are many, we are one body,
because we all share in one bread.
The Agnus Dei is said as the bread is broken
Jesus, Lamb of God,
have mercy on us.
Jesus, bearer of our sins,
have mercy on us.
Jesus, redeemer of the world,
grant us peace.
15
Giving of Communion
I heard the voice of a great multitude crying, ‘Alleluia’.
The Lord our God has entered into his kingdom.
All Blessed are those who are called
to the supper of the Lamb.
The bread and the wine will be distributed from various places around the hall.
During Communion the following chant and hymn will be sung
Eat this bread, Drink this cup
Come to him and never be hungry.
Eat this bread, Drink this cup,
Trust in him and you will not thirst.
1
I am the bread of life, the true bread sent from the Father
Eat this bread, Drink this cup…
2
Your ancestors ate manna in the desert,
but this is the bread come down from heaven
Eat this bread, Drink this cup…
3
Eat my flesh and drink my blood,
and I will raise you up on the last day
Eat this bread, Drink this cup
Come to him and never be hungry.
Eat this bread, Drink this cup,
Trust in him and you will not thirst.
4
Anyone who eats this bread, will live forever
Eat this bread, Drink this cup…
16
5
If you believe and eat this bread, you will have eternal life
Eat this bread, Drink this cup…
Taize
1
Jesus, stand among us at the meeting of our lives,
be our sweet agreement at the meeting of our eyes.
O Jesus, we love you, so we gather here,
join our hearts in unity and take away our fear.
2
So to you we're gathering out of each and every land,
Christ the love between us at the joining of our hands.
O Jesus, we love you, so we gather here,
join our hearts in unity and take away our fear.
3
Jesus, stand among us at the breaking of the bread,
join us as one body as we worship you, our head.
O Jesus, we love you, so we gather here,
join our hearts in unity and take away our fear.
Graham Kendrick (b.1950)
Prayer after Communion
Silence may be kept
Eternal God, giver of love and power,
your Son Jesus Christ has sent us into all the world
to preach the gospel of his kingdom:
confirm us in this mission,
and help us to live the good news we proclaim;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
All Amen.
17
All Almighty God,
we thank you for feeding us
with the body and blood of your Son Jesus Christ.
Through him we offer you our souls and bodies
to be a living sacrifice.
Send us out in the power of your Spirit
to live and work to your praise and glory. Amen.
The Sending Out
Final Hymn
1
Christ triumphant, ever reigning,
Saviour, Master, King.
Lord of heaven, our lives sustaining,
hear us as we sing:
Yours the glory and the crown,
the high renown, the eternal name.
2
Word incarnate, truth revealing,
Son of Man on earth!
Power and majesty concealing
by your humble birth:
3
Suffering Servant, scorned, ill-treated,
Victim crucified!
Death is through the cross defeated,
sinners justified:
4
Priestly King, enthroned forever
high in heaven above!
Sin and death and hell shall never
stifle hymns of love:
18
5
So, our hearts and voices raising
through the ages long,
ceaselessly upon you gazing,
this shall be our song:
Michael Saward (b.1932)
The Blessing
Christ our King make you faithful and strong to do his will,
that you may reign with him in glory;
and the blessing of God almighty,
the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,
be among you and remain with you always.
All Amen.
A minister says
Go in peace to love and serve the Lord.
All In the name of Christ. Amen.
