Bill of Rights Illustration Project
Learning Target: I can illustrate and explain the 10 Amendments in the Bill of Rights in my own words.
There have been 27 amendments that have become part of the Constitution. The first ten amendments deal with rights
that many felt should have been included in the main body of the Constitution. These rights were ratified in 1791 and
are called the Bill of Rights.
Amendment I: Freedom of religion, press, speech, assembly, petition
Amendment II: Right to bear arms
Amendment III: Quartering of soldiers
Amendment IV: Unreasonable searches and seizures
Amendment V: Right of due process of law, no double jeopardy
Amendment VI: Right to a public trial, right to a lawyer
Amendment VII: Right to a jury trial
Amendment VIII: Excessive bail, no cruel and unusual punishment
Amendment IX: Rights not listed in the Constitution
Amendment X: Rights to the people and states
