BlueShift Finals Competition Day Instructions
Finals Presentation
Each finalist team will prepare a 15 minute presentation, supported by PowerPoint slides.
The presentation will be based on the written submission from the first round of BlueShift
competition. All team members must participate in the presentation.
The presentations must include:
a. An overview of your consulting team
b. Understanding of the fast-food burger industry in Australia and internationally,
and Burger Urge as a business
c. Consideration of international markets for expansion
d. Recommendations
e. Timeline and budget
The solutions presented should be based on the team’s written submission. The team can
refine and develop analysis and recommendations, based on feedback provided from the
written submission. The focus of the finals presentation should be on convincing the judging
panel that your analysis and recommendations is strongly justified.

TIPS: Try to capture the main points of your written submission in your
presentation. As with your written submission, remember to be creative and
original, clearly link your analysis to your recommendations and make a
persuasive case for why and how the business should implement your
recommendation. Remember, there are 12 finalist teams. Think about how to
make your team’s presentation clear, compelling and memorable for the
judging panel.
Presentation Format
All presentations must be in PowerPoint format – 16:9 widescreen. No other format or
presentation software will be accepted. If the presentation is provided in a format other than
PowerPoint, the Finalist Team will be given the option to present entirely without visual aids
or to forfeit their place in the BlueShift Finals.
No videos or audio files are permitted within the PowerPoint presentation. If any video files
or audio files are included, these will be removed by the Competition Organisers prior to
presentations.
Finalist Teams will present for a maximum of 15 minutes followed by approximately 5
minutes question and answer time with the judges. Warnings will be given when there are
five minutes remaining; when there is one minute remaining, and when time is up.
Each team must provide the competition coordinators with their PowerPoint slides via email
to [email protected] no later than 12pm on Friday 26 May. No changes will be
accepted after this time. This is to allow time for the coordinators to have the presentations
ready on the AV equipment prior to the commencement of the competition.
Judging
The judging panel should be considered as an advisory panel, reviewing submissions from a
number of consulting teams, to provide a recommendation to Burger Urge. As such, the
panel will have a good basic understanding of Burger Urge, but you should ensure your
presentation provides a succinct overview and demonstrates your strong research, analysis,
and insights.
The competition is judged by a panel of QUT staff, sponsors of BlueShift and other business
professionals. All decisions made by the judging panel are final.
Finalist teams will be allocated into a round of heats, drawn at random, for their
presentations. If the team is not ready when they are called to present anytime between
10:00am – 3:00pm, they forfeit their place in the Finals Competition. All teams must remain
in the heats room while the other teams are presenting.
Champion Round
The second round (Champion Round) of the BlueShift Finals will consist of the winning
teams from each of the three Finals Round Heats. These three teams will present the same
presentation to a panel of judges. The judges will then choose an overall BlueShift
Champion Team (first place), a Second Place Team and a Third Place Team.
Winners will be announced and presented with their prizes at the conclusion of the
Champion Round.
