Theme and Activities to celebrate the World Population Day 2015

WORLD POPULATION DAY 2015
World Population Day is a yearly recurrent feature which is
celebrated worldwide on 11 July to raise awareness of
important population and development issues.
This year,
people around the world will be observing the 25th World
Population Day to enhance awareness of population issues,
including their relations to the environment and development.
.
The global theme for this year is
““Vulnerable Populations in Emergencies”.
The United Nations Population Fund has chosen this theme to
focus on women, children and young people who comprise over
three quarters of the over 50 million people who have been
forcibly displaced from their homes by conflict and disasters in
most parts of the world. Girls and women in crisis situations
face much greater risk of abuse, sexual exploitation, violence,
forced marriage, reproductive health-related illnesses, and
death due to the lack of protection and an absence of aid
delivery to address their needs.

To celebrate the World Population Day 2015 , the Ministry of Health and
Quality of life would carry out a one-day workshop to be held on 9 July
2015 to disseminate the findings of the 2014 Contraceptive Prevalence

deprived areas, conduct focus groups discussions among in and out of
school youth on their main concerns with regards to sexual and
reproductive health and promote access to information and HIV testing in
deprived areas across the island.

programmes and workshops would be organised by the Ministry of Youth
and Sports, Ministry of Social Security, National Solidarity and Reform
