He said US Farm Policy was intended to encourage American farmers to overproduce corn, soy,
and other commodity crops to seize the global markets by being the lowest-cost producers.
He also said it didn’t work. Instead, flooding the global markets drove prices down and
then those farmers started going out of business.
The government responded by making temporary subsidy payments to corn and soybean
farmers. By 2002 those payments became permanent. Ultimately, this backfired on farmers
(and consumers) too, but it was highly beneficial to some meat-producing companies and
soft-drink manufacturers.
According to Dr. Wallinga, the policies we have “are actually hurting healthcare by helping
drive the epidemic of obesity and all the expensive diseases that come from it.”
Obesity is on the rise and small farmers are disappearing. Something has to be done.

What do they have in common? They are weeds,
and they are extremely nutritious. In many parts of
the world seaweed is referred to as sea vegetables
or sea plants and they are well known for being both

nutritious. In the book Vegetables from the Sea, the
authors state that all of the minerals required by
human beings, including calcium, sodium, magnesium, potassium, iodine, iron, and zinc are present in
these plants - as are vitamins A (beta carotene), B1,

acid. There are numerous other benefits as well.
Dandelion has been used for liver cleansing, respiratory illness, and many other areas of healing and
health for thousands of years. Dandelion also
contains bioflavanoids, biotin, calcium, choline, folic
acid, insulin, iron, linolenic acid, magnesium, niacin
pantothenic acid, phosphorus, proteins, zinc, vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, B12, C and E and many other
nutrients. Different parts of the plants have different
