The Can Crusher
Assembly Instructions
March 2015
STEP 1 : Open & Check the Box/Supplies
Start by removing components from package carefully. Do not cut into the box with a knife
to insure that none of the building materials are damaged.
Take a look at the list of materials below to make sure that you have everything to get
started!

STEP 2 : Assemble the Crusher Frame
Insert 4 of the 8 inch bolts into the Wooden Square w/ 4 holes.

Insert the Wooden Square w/ 4 holes onto the 4, bolts

Screw on 4 of the Nuts onto the Bolts. Only screw down about 1 ½” inches.

Insert the 4 60mL Syringe (Big) into the Wooden Square w/ 8 holes.

Now insert the Wooden Square and the Syringes onto the 4 bolts as shown in the
picture below.
Next screw on the remaining 4 Nuts to secure the Wooden Square and Syringes.

STEP 3 : Assemble The Tubing
Attach the 2” piece of tubing to each side of the Tee. You will need to make 3 of these.

Once you have made all 3 attach them together like the picture below.
Next add the Short Tubing to the end of the top Tee.

Add the Check Valve to the end of the Short tube

Make sure arrow is pointing toward

Add Long Tube to the other side of the Check Valve.

Add Tee to the end of the Long Tube

Add 2 pieces of the Short Tubing to each end of the Tee.

Add another Check Valve to the end of one of the Short Tubes.

Add LongTubing to the other side of the Check Valve.

STEP 4 : Attach 3mL Syringe
Screw on 1 of the Syringe – Tube Adapters to the end of the 3mL Syringe.

Insert Syringe – Tube Adapter & Syringe into the short tubing.
STEP 5 : Attach Tubing to Frame
Screw on 4 of the Syringe – Tube Adapters to the ends of the 60mL Syringes.

Attach the 4 2 inch tubes to the ends of the 60mL syringes.
STEP 6 : Add Cup
Put Long Tube in RumbleLab Cup and attach paper clip to keep the tube from falling
out of the cup.

STEP 7 : Crush
Pump on the small syringe until the can is crushed. If pumping is too hard and nothing is
moving, stop. Going too far can damage the crusher. If something gets damaged,
contact us and we will send you a replacement!
Now to release the can, you have to bleed the pressure off the crushing syringes. This
pressure is locked in by the second check valve (1) in the picture below. The easiest
way to bleed off pressure is to carefully unscrew one of the syringe tubing adapters
pictured with a (2) below. Do this in a safe place and cover with your hand because a
small amount of water will spray out. After you have disconnected this fitting, leave it
disconnected and push the sliding plate up. This will push the water out of the crushing
syringes until you get back to your starting position.

Troubleshooting


I can’t get my crushing syringes to move
o Check the orientation of the check valves. If they are not oriented the right way, it
will keep the fluid from being pumped into the crushing syringes. Step 3
