A.S.A. Fast Pitch Softball Rules will apply with the following exceptions.
Pitching distance is 30’.
Base distance is 60’.
Ball circumference is an 11’ safety core ball.
All girls must play 1 inning in the infield within the first 2 inning. All players should have equal
playing time on the field.
Both feet must maintain contact on and within the rubber pitching block throughout the
backswing on the pitch.
Pitchers may not jump off the rubber pitching block with both feet. The same side foot as the
pitching hand must maintain contact with the ground throughout the pitch.
The HOME TEAM is the team listed first on the schedule and will occupy 3rd base dugout. The
home team will provide the game ball and the Scorekeeper. Visiting team will keep the book.
A regulation game consists of 7 innings or a 1 hour and 15 minute time limit. (NO new innings
start after 1 hour and 15 minutes.)
Coaches need to have their team ready to play at game time.
Coaches are responsible for their players and parent conduct during a game.
All players must wear their official team uniform.
Metal spikes are prohibited. Jewelry is prohibited.
Cell phones are not permitted on field.
Catcher must wear full catcher’s equipment during the game and anyone warming up the
pitcher must wear a mask.
Players not playing in the field must stay in their bench area. Only players and coaches are
allowed on the bench, no parents, children, or spectators.
Helmets and facemasks must be worn when batting. Chin straps optional.
A continuous batting order shall be used.
7-10 players may be used in the field. The outfields must stand on the edge of the grass until the
ball is put in motion. Coaches will inform the other team before the game as to how many
players will be in the outfield.
A six run limit per inning will be used.
Stealing bases will be permitted starting the June 13th.
Base runners need to learn to slide. They should slide at 2nd, 3rd and home plate if there is a play
being made. A play is defined as an attempt to put the base runner out. BE SMART AND SLIDE.
Over-throw—Runners may advance 1 base beyond the base being approached.
A Pitching Machine may be used during the game during the first two weeks of play using the
following rules: The batter will get a total of 7 pitches, unless the 7 pitch is a foul ball. If the
batter has not hit the ball fairly after the 7th pitch, she will be called out. No base on balls will be
taken.
This is a developmental league with the emphasis on learning and practicing softball skills but
most importantly having FUN and enjoying the game of softball.
NO ALCOHOL. NO SMOKING (INCLUDING E-CIGARRETES) AT THE BALL FIELDS.
