The World Scholar's Cup is a global academic tournament that combines debate, collaborative writing, multiple choice tests and a multimedia quiz. The core idea of the competition is to motivate students to focus not just on their existing skills and strengths, but also to discover new ones. The theme for this year was - ‘An Imperfect World'. Within the theme, students had to research upon the following fields: Special Area - Crime and Justice History - A History of Cheating Science - Disease and Public Health Literature - Words to Light the Darkness Arts - Flawed Visions, Broken Sounds Social Studies - When States Falter Day 1 began with a lot of enthusiasm, coupled with a few apprehensions, as many scholars were débutantes in the Scholar’s Cup. The World Scholar’s Team, led by its founder Mr. Daniel Berdichevsky, trained the students about the various rules of the competition, and skills which the students must possess for a healthy competition. WORLD SCHOLAR'S CUP 4 INTERACTING WITH DANIEL 5 COLLABORATIVE WRITING AND SCHOLAR'S CHALLENGE WORLD SCHOLAR'S CUP The World Scholar’s Cup in a unique blend of academic and social activities, which attempt to solidify the community aspect of the event. After the training, the entire school premise was brimming with a lot of energy, as students found their way to 32 debate venues for ‘Team Debate’ and 8 writing venues for ‘Collaborative Writing’ and ‘Scholar’s Challenge’. The day was all about research, learning and team work for the scholars, each one eager to make a mark in this unique competition. WORLD SCHOLAR'S CUP 6 7 TEAM DEBATE WORLD SCHOLAR'S CUP WORLD SCHOLAR'S CUP 8 9 AN ACTIVITY DONE BY THE PRINCIPAL WORLD SCHOLAR'S CUP Even the Principal got roped in by Daniel and Burch Wang to do a 'fun' activity! 10 ALPACA---THE WORLD SCHOLAR'S CUP MASCOT Each scholar was given an ‘Alpaca’ as a souvenir of the event, making them an integral part of the scholar’s family, spread across the world. THE WORLD SCHOLAR'S CUP 11 TALENT SHOW THE WORLD SCHOLAR'S CUP The World Scholar’s Cup in a unique blend of academic and social activities, which attempt to solidify the community aspect of the event. The scholars forgot all about the competition amongst them during the ‘Scholar’s Show’ as they danced to foot-tapping numbers, sang songs and cheered for each other. Burch Wang, an extremely talented, world renowned rockstar, spearheaded the 'talent show' THE WORLD SCHOLAR'S CUP 12 WORLD SCHOLAR'S CUP 13 THE AUDIENCE ENJOYING THEMSELVES THOROUGHLY 14 PRIZE DISTRIBUTION WORLD SCHOLAR'S CUP The Closing Ceremony included distribution of over 1200 medals and trophies to encourage the scholars, and infuse in them a spirit of learning. Over 15 teams qualified for the Global Round to be held next year.
