Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions
1) How do I register?
Follow the GCSEPod link from your school’s VLE, website or eLearning platform which will take you
to the registration page. Make sure you register with your correct school email address. You will
receive an activation email from GCSEPod so you must check your Inbox to complete registration.
2) I have forgotten my password, what do I do?
Follow the link to login from your school’s VLE, website or eLearning platform and click the link that
says “Forgotten Password?” Type in your registered school email address and then check your Inbox
for an email which contains your new password. We recommend that, once logged in, you change
your password to something more memorable by clicking on ‘My Account’ at the top of the GCSEPod
homepage.
3) I have registered but the system won’t let me login, what do I do?
Firstly, make sure you followed the link from your school’s VLE, website or eLearning platform. If you
did, you could try resetting your password following the steps mentioned above. Finally, if it still
doesn’t work, contact your school’s Network Manager.
4) Why do I see prices on the webpage and I can’t download anything?
If you are seeing prices then you have gone to the wrong website. Go back to your school’s VLE,
website or eLearning platform and follow the link to GCSEPod from there.
5) Why can’t I see podcasts for all the subjects shown?
Your school may only have a subscription to specific subjects.
6) Which podcasts do I need for my exam?
From the GCSEPod homepage click the button which says ‘Prepare for your next exam.’ There you
will find a comprehensive list of upcoming exams, along with links to all relevant podcasts.
7) Will this exam page support the new exam specifications?
We are continually updating our content, and will continue to reflect the various specifications.
8) How do I get podcasts onto my MP3/4 player or smart phone
You can stream podcasts to watch live via 3G (or better connection) by going to your school’s
GCSEPod link (see FAQ1) or download podcasts to play when you are offline. Select ‘Download this
title now’ under your chosen podcast. An email with a link to the podcast file will be sent to your
school email address. Open this email on your home computer and follow the instructions for your
device below.
9) How do I get the podcasts onto my iPhone, iPod or iPad?
First, you will need to download the podcast into iTunes. You must do this on a home computer.
Click the link in the email you have received and save it into the following folder:
PC users – C:\Documents and Settings\yourusername\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes
Media (or iTunes Music)\Automatically Add to iTunes
Mac users - Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Automatically Add to iTunes
Once you have added the files to your iTunes library, make sure that under the ‘Books’ tab of your
devices menu (in iTunes) you have selected ‘Sync Audiobooks.’ You can then either select to sync all
Audiobooks or select only the ones you want to sync.
More detailed instructions for downloading podcasts on iPhone, iPads and iPods can be found in our
“How to Download GCSEPod to Apple Devices” document.
10) How do I get podcasts onto my Android/Blackberry device?
To add the content to your device, connect your device via USB to your PC or Mac and then drag the
GCSEPod podcast files to your phones memory card into the folder named ‘Videos’.
More detailed instructions for downloading podcasts on Android or Blackberry devices can be found
in our “How to Download GCSEPod to Android Devices” and “How to Download GCSEPod to
Blackberry Devices” documents.
11) My download is hanging – why?
If your download is not working you could try the following:
-
Copy the download link from your email and paste it into the address bar of a new browser
window.
Try using a different browser. We recommend Firefox, Chrome or Safari.
12) I have lost my download, what do I do?
You could try searching for the download on your computer by searching for the name of the
podcast you downloaded, the keyword ‘GCSEPod’ or the file type ‘m4b.’
Alternatively, simply request the download again, and make sure to note where it is being saved.
13) Will I lose my music?
You will lose music if you attempt to sync your device to iTunes on a PC that doesn’t contain all of
your music already (i.e. on a school computer). It is best to choose one PC to keep all of your music
and podcasts on and sync your device only to that machine.
Blackberry and Android users should
not experience any lost music.
14) What do you do with my email address (I don’t want to receive marketing stuff)
Your email address is only used for sending download links. We won’t use your email for anything
other than that.
15) What other subjects are you planning?
We currently have Music and Spanish in production, along with the expansion of current subjects.
