Canadian Rockies and fine-tune your skills under the guidance of experienced
photographers on this once-in-a-lifetime photography workshop.
Catered towards intermediate and advanced photographers, here’s your chance to
explore the Rockies’ most iconic locations and hidden gems with award-winning
landscape photographer Paul Zizka and assistant Paul Bruins. This workshop will
bring you new confidence in many aspects of photography – including
composition and techniques you can use in the field and in post-processing –
and will help you maximize everything your mountain subjects have to offer.
Spend every sunrise and sunset outside capturing your surroundings, then
return to Fairmont for incredible meals, luxury and authentic activities. Paul and
Paul will share secrets to capturing your experience forever and Fairmont will treat
you to all of the luxuries our historic, iconic locations have to offer.

About Your Instructor, Paul Zizka
Paul Zizka is a professional mountain landscape and adventure photographer based in Banff, Alberta. Specializing in
photographing in difficult conditions and hard-to-reach places, Paul has a passion for documenting the interplay of light
and weather in the mountains, shooting alpine endeavours, and capturing the spirit of adventure. Paul’s award-winning
photos have been featured in a variety of publications, including explore magazine, IMPACT and Canadian Geographic.
His commercial clients, such as Banff Lake Louise Tourism and Parks Canada, depend on his photography to bring
Banff National Park to the world. Paul’s first photography book, Summits and Starlight: The Canadian Rockies, hit the

Package Rates
There is only space for 12 photography participants, so you will have plenty of opportunities for one-on-one
instruction from Paul Zizka and his assistant Paul Bruins. There are a few spots available for spouses/friends that would
like to join the package, but not participate in the photography sessions.
Package rates from $2,849, per person, based on two people sharing one room.
Package Includes:
• 7 nights accommodation in a Fairmont room for up to 2 adults
2 nights at The Fairmont Banff Springs, 3 nights at The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise and
2 nights at The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge

Rates are available for a limited number of spouses wishing to join the group but not partake in the
photo sessions – first requested, first reserved.
Upgraded room accommodations are available for additional rates

• All transportation between hotels and to shooting locations
o Simply arrive in Banff on July 2nd and you won’t have to drive again until we return to Banff on July 9th

• Any incidentals are not covered in the package

A 50% deposit is required at time of reservation with the remainder due 3 weeks before the start of the package
(June 11, 2014). Refunds will only be available if the event is completely sold out and another participant registers
for the open spot. Package will be cancelled if registration is less than eight people.
Participation waivers are required to be signed upon package reservation.
What to Bring
Even though the workshop is in July, we will have some very cool temperatures in the Rockies.
Please Bring:
• suitable and comfortable clothing, which you can layer for outdoor photo sessions
• warm jacket
• waterproof jacket and pants (we will be shooting no matter the weather)
• waterproof footwear (we will work along shorelines quite a lot)
• warm hat
• a headlamp or flashlight with extra batteries
• gloves
• your own camera equipment (preferably DSLR, which allows manual control of shutter speed,
aperture and ISO settings)
• a sturdy tripod
• a cable (or wireless) shutter release
• a laptop for editing (with editing software, preferably Bridge or Lightroom)
• extra camera batteries
• chargers
• lens hood
• filters if you like
• Something soft to kneel on if you like (we are going to encourage everyone to shoot low)
• Resort Casual clothing for all meals and activities in the hotels
In Case of Inclement Weather
Mountain weather is fickle and a flexible approach to the itinerary will yield better photographs in the end.
Therefore the schedule and locations are tentative. We will make the most of what we are given to work with!
Fitness Level
Moderate fitness is required, as we will be hiking to some destinations.

There will be time each day for sightseeing, resting and editing. All activities through the day are optional. Some meal
times and travel times will be a set-schedule. Typical day will start by leaving the hotel at 4:30 a.m. with a coffee,
returning around 8:00 a.m. for breakfast. Most of the day is at your own schedule, dinner at 6:30 p.m., then leaving for
sunset/night shoot at 8:00 p.m. and returning to the hotel at approximately 11:00 p.m. More specific timing can be
supplied upon demand.
