Singing a song
Standard procedure:
1. Introduce numbers 1-10. Say, repeat and show with fingers. Use the rhythm of
the song to teach numbers.
2. Sing the song using gestures and using also the paper fish to act the song out.
3. Teach the song, sentence by sentence. Encourage children to do the gestures.
Optional procedures of the activity:
• Give children the song separated in 8 sentences with pictures (we attach an
example). They write numbers on each square putting them in order. They
colour and cut them out. They stick on colour paper to make a mini-book.
• They can also make their own paper fish sticking different colour papers as in
the example. They act out the song in small groups.
Extra procedures for further language learning:
You can also teach on right and left distinction. When the song finishes they have to
be rising right hand up. Teacher checks going around children and repeating "right".
