Letter From Your President:
Hello IRCA Cowboys and
Cowgirls. I hope everyone is
doing their best to stay sane with
the never ending winter that we
are having. One thing we can look
forward to is that the summer
rodeo season is just around the
corner. We have all of our great
rodeos back for 2014, with some
new additions. The season kicks
off in a little over a month at the
Horse Fair in Des Moines. With
that said, get your memberships
purchased ahead of time. It is out
of the goodness of their hearts
that rodeo secretaries take memberships; they do not have to
take memberships. So please help
them out and send them in to
Wendy at the IRCA office ahead
of time.
I would like to thank everyone
who came out to help us celebrate our 2013 champions at the
banquet. I also would like send a
huge thank you out to the Clarke
County Fair Board and their Rodeo Committee, for hosting our
Finals for the past several years.
That said, I am excited to announce
that the 2014 IRCA Finals will be
held in Marshalltown, hosted by
the Central Iowa Fair Association.
Mark your calendars for September
4, 5, 6; we plan on 3 great performances. Also new for the 2014
Finals is that we will start on
Thursday night to end with a huge
final performance on Saturday
night. We will have more details as
the summer goes on.
The next topic I need to touch
on is the buddy pass. I cannot
stress enough that everyone abide
by the rules, if people keep trying
to beat the gate cost at our rodeos, we are going to lose them all
together. Rodeo committees have
expressed their concerns to the
stock contractors as well as my
office. Please follow the rules, one
contestant one buddy, don’t cheat
the people that are good enough to
give us a place to do what we love,
Rodeo. One more thing that I want
to include, if you don’t have your
membership purchased before the
rodeo, the committee doesn’t have
to honor a buddy pass, this is
another good reason to get
your membership ahead of time.
Back to the positive, this
season, when the winter finally
breaks, proves to be one of the
best we have ever had. The
IRCA Board is out working hard
getting new and great sponsors,
with many of our past sponsors
still with us. I’m super excited
for the season to start. I’ll see
you down the road. Any questions for me or the Board don’t
hesitate to give us a call.
