Millennium Express 2013
Background
Vulnerability of communities to multi-pronged
problems is a pressing condition the world faces
today, especially the developing nations. The
capacity of a community to recover from different
vulnerabilities lies on its ability to tap the existing
re s o u rc e s p re s e nt
o n t h e c o m m u n i t y,
complemented by appropriate management
strategies for the sustainable utilization of the
existing resource base.
Taking the different contexts and situations of
various communities in addressing resource scarcity
and conflict, through a workshop-seminar,
significant factors may arise that will help in building
a resilient community.
Purposes
Ÿ Identifying community resource management
strategies applied;
Ÿ Compiling the success and failure stories through
sharing practical cases and experiences;
Ÿ Identifying factors and conditions that affect the
strategies in addressing resiliency; and
Ÿ Suggesting ways or guidelines for action useful for
the participants in relation to building resilient
communities.
