AEROSPACE MATERIAL SPECIFICATION AMS 2261G Issued Revised Reaffirmed MAY 1948 MAR 2002 OCT 2006 Superseding AMS 2261F Tolerances Nickel, Nickel Alloy, and Cobalt Alloy Bars, Rods, and Wire RATIONALE This document has been reaffirmed to comply with the SAE 5-year Review policy. 1. SCOPE: This specification covers established manufacturing tolerances applicable to bars, rods, and wire of nickel, nickel alloy, and cobalt alloys ordered to inch-pound dimensions. These tolerances apply to all conditions, unless otherwise noted. The term "excl" is used to apply only to the higher figure of a specified range. 1.1 Where the terms “nickel”, “nickel-copper”, “nickel-chromium”, “nickel-molybdenum”, “nickelmolybdenum-chromium”, and “cobalt” are used without qualification, they refer to both non-heattreatable and heat-treatable alloys as applicable, unless otherwise noted. 1.2 MAM 2261 is the metric version of this AMS. 2. DIAMETER OR THICKNESS AND WIDTH: Specified dimensions apply to diameter of rounds, to distance between parallel sides of hexagons and squares, and separately to width and thickness of rectangles. 2.1 2.1.1 Cold Reduced: Nickel and Nickel-Copper Alloys: SAE Technical Standards Board Rules provide that: “This report is published by SAE to advance the state of technical and engineering sciences. The use of this report is entirely voluntary, and its applicability and suitability for any particular use, including any patent infringement arising therefrom, is the sole responsibility of the user.” SAE reviews each technical report at least every five years at which time it may be reaffirmed, revised, or cancelled.
