offourPrincipalInvestigatorsfortheCPE’sNationalJusticeDatabase,thefirst
nationaldatabaseonracialdisparitiesinpolicestopsanduseofforce.
Morerecently,Dr.GoffledtheCPEinbecomingoneofthreePrincipal
InvestigatorsfortheU.S.DepartmentofJustice’sNationalInitiativeforBuilding
CommunityTrustandJustice,whichwillcontributeinformationtotheNational
JusticeDatabase.
Dr.Goffconductsworkexploringthewaysinwhichracialprejudiceisnota
necessarypreconditionforracialdiscrimination.Thatis,despitethenormative
viewofracialdiscrimination—thatitstemsfromprejudicedexplicitorimplicit
attitudes—hisresearchdemonstratesthatsituationalfactorsfacilitateracially
unequaloutcomes.
Dr.Goff’smodelofevidence-basedapproachestojusticehasbeensupportedby
theNationalScienceFoundation,DepartmentofJustice,RussellSageFoundation,
