All through this month we have been taught that there is a
balm in Gilead and a physician in Gilead, and Jesus is both.
Jeremiah 8:19-22
“Behold the voice of the cry of the daughter of my people
because of them that dwell in a far country: Is not
the LORD in Zion? is not her king in her? Why have they
provoked me to anger with their graven images, and with
strange vanities. The harvest is past, the summer is ended,
and we are not saved. For the hurt of the daughter of my
people am I hurt; I am black; astonishment hath taken hold
on me. Is there no balm in Gilead; is there no physician
there? why then is not the health of the daughter of my
people recovered.”
Jesus is the balm in Gilead and Jesus is the physician in
Gilead. We have looked at several aspects of the balm in
Gilead. In the first week, we studied the word of God as the
balm in Gilead. In the second week, we studied the blood of
Jesus Christ as the balm in Gilead. In the third week, we
studied the anointing oil as the balm in Gilead. Last week,
we studied the name of Jesus as the balm that you and I
require to be completely delivered from the devil. This
week’s message is studying the spirit of joy as the balm in
Gilead. One thing to note brethren; all of these balms
operate on the same level, as a matter of fact they work
together to make the city of the living God how He wants it
to be.
I went through the dictionary to ensure I had all the
perspective of what joy is and here is what I found; ‘Joy is the
passion or emotion exerted by the acquisition or expectation
of good, it is that excitement or pleasurable feeling which is
caused by success, good fortune, the gratification of desire or
some good possessed or by a rational prospect of possessing
what we love or desire.’ While joy is defined as the delight of
the mind from the consideration of the present or the assured
approaching of a good, we must also realise that joy is
described as the fruit of the Spirit. If you have the right tree,
then you will bear the right fruit. For example, when you
plant an orange seed, you can expect to reap an orange fruit
from the tree in a few years. Similarly, for you to reap joy as
a fruit, you must be planted in the Spirit because joy is a fruit
of the Spirit.
I also noticed in the dictionary a difference between
happiness and joy. When it comes to nourishing our soul,
happiness is like a candy bar; not very nutritional while joy is
a plate of meat, potatoes and vegetables which fills you up
and are very good for your body. Happiness is when we are
delighted and pleased with good fortune which is often a
result of outside forces. Happiness is temporary; it comes via
that expectation that was met while joy is permanent and runs
much deeper than happiness. Joy is a matter of the soul, it
runs deep into the core of us and radiates throughout our
being. It is the response to something bigger, internal and

often comes from conquering oneself and willingly
enduring suffering, insult, pain, humiliation or hardship. Joy
is based on the permanent unshakeable knowledge that it is
well with your soul. Many people in an attempt to get joy
they consume alcohol and nicotine and the moment they get
that high they desire, they become happy and excited but as
soon as the effect of that causative factor goes down, the
happiness ends.
WHAT IS IN JOY THAT HEALS?
1. There is Healing Virtue in Joy
Proverbs 17:22
“A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken
spirit drieth the bones.”
As a matter of fact there was a research a while back that
showed that if you can get someone to rejoice from within,
fifty percent of the sickness that affects him or her would be
resolved.
Proverbs 18:14
“The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a
wounded spirit who can bear.”
2. In Joy is Divine Presence
Psalm 16:11
“
Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is
fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for
evermore.”
Another study was done several years ago that if you can
get someone to church twice a week, he or she will never be
sick and if he or she is sick, there is enough power to get
him or her healed. Many of us are once a week Christians;
dust their bibles every Sunday and come to church and once
they go back home, they keep their bibles until next Sunday.
The Apostles went to church daily and there was no record
in scriptures of them falling sick. We had a powerful
testimony from one of us that was sick and she said to
herself that she would not miss the service on account of
illness. She came to the house of the Lord and laid at the
back because she was weak and the Angels of the Lord
visited her and she was completely made whole by an
encounter in the presence of the Lord.
Romans 8:31
“What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us,
who can be against us.”
3. In Joy is Divine Strength
Nehemiah 8:10
“Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and
drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom
nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our LORD:
neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your
strength.”
The issue many people have is that they hold on to
something that happened in the past; they put themselves in
a position where everyone says sorry to them. Forget about
the mistakes of the past, retake the situation and move on.
Do not let mistakes of the past hold you down.
Psalm 84:7
“They go from strength to strength, every one of them in
Zion appeareth before God.”
Zion is the place of strength and no weakness is permitted in
the presence of the Lord.
4. In Joy is Access to Revelation
Brethren, if we have the doors to an auditorium open, I will
not be surprised to see a bird fly in and out without care in
the world. Bishop Oyedepo said, he has a grace which he
carries around with him; the grace of advance forgiveness
meaning even before the offence is committed, the
forgiveness is available. Brethren, you cannot be depressed
until you are oppressed. I heard something said by a servant
of God, he said when you hold someone in your heart, you
are not only imprisoning that person you are also
imprisoned. When you hold someone down, you are also
down with him.
LEVELS OF JOY AS CONTAINED IN THE
SCRIPTURE
1. Joy of Salvation
This is the joy that overwhelms you when you give your
heart to Jesus and truly commit to Him.
Isaiah 12:3
“Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of
salvation.”
2. Oil of Joy
This is another level of joy that is released to you when you
are baptised by the Holy Ghost.
Isaiah 61:3
“To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them
beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of
praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called
trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he
might be glorified.”
Psalm 46:4
“There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the
city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most
High.”
Brethren, I wake up every day with a song, I sing
everywhere. When I used to work in the corporate world, I
was singing in the office one day and the guy in the next
office was complaining and before I knew it he resigned and
gave way to someone else that could rejoice. Even when
Jesus was on the cross and he was getting mocked by one of
the robbers on His side, He did not respond with anger rather
he allowed the joy from within to flow and He forgave ahead

3. Intoxicating Joy
This is joy via an encounter with the word of God, it is joy
that radiates and affects everyone around you. One of my
daughters had an encounter recently; a false prophet got a
hold of her and told her things that had happened to her and
the things he said to her were true. He then requested that
she sows a seed to him. The false prophet had created so
much fear in her to the point that she could not sleep at
night and she cried all night. When she came to me to
narrate the story to me she was still crying and I told her
immediately to stop crying because a true prophet will not
leave her in fear. By the inspiration of the spirit, I noticed a
spell had been cast on her. We prayed and the spell was
removed, there was a restoration of joy and light came upon
her again.
Psalm 45:7
“Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness:
therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of
gladness above thy fellows.”
HOW DO YOU ACCESS AND MAINTAIN YOUR
JOY?
1. You must have a personal relationship with Jesus
Romans 14:17
“For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but
righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.”
2. Maintain a sweet fellowship with the Holy Spirit
Jude 1:20
“But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy
faith, praying in the Holy Ghost.”
James 5:13 - “Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is
any merry? let him sing psalms.”
3. Live above your circumstances
Choose to rejoice and be confident that nothing is made to
work against you.
Romans 8:28
“And we know that all things work together for good to
them that love God, to them who are the called according to
his purpose.”
Romans 8:31 - “What shall we then say to these things? If
God be for us, who can be against us.”
Ephesians 5:19-20
“Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual
songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.
Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father
in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
4. Receive the oil of joy
Isaiah 61:3
“To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto
them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be
called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that
he might be glorified”
Permanent Resident Granted Within a Year
I came into this country as an international student and after
my gradation, I was looking unto God as to what to do next
and I got a leading to move to Calgary with my two kids
because of Winners Chapel Calgary. There are alot of
difficulties that surrounds applying for a permanent
residence in Canada, but I did not focus on these difficulties
rather I put it to God and he directed me as to the path to
take with the application and after one year of graduation, I
got my permanent residence status in this country. After
getting the residency status, we decided to get a house and I
am here today to appreciate God because we have been
approved by two different banks to obtain a mortgage, it can
only be the Lord’s doing and I return all the Glory to Him.

Supernatural Operation of Fibroid
via Kingdom Engagement
I joined this Church in 2006 and since then God has been
faithful. At the beginning of March 2016, I started having
terrible pain in my lower abdomen. All through last week,
walking and talking was a problem. On Saturday I came for
the Covenant Hour of Prayer (early morning prayer
program) but I was unable to sit down because of the pain. I
was restless and the only word I could pick was the
instruction at the close of the service that everyone should
pray kingdom focused prayers for thirty minutes. At 9 pm
later that day, I, my younger sister and children prayed for
about an hour for the kingdom specifically for our new
converts to attend Sunday service. After the prayer, the pain
became worse and my younger sister took me to the hospital
but no doctor was on duty. I could not attend the church
service the next morning as the pain had become worse and I
could no longer move my legs. On getting to the hospital the
doctor performed a scan and confirmed that it was fibroid.
He said the operation must be done immediately because it
may be too late to wait till the following week. On getting
home, I started reminding God of my service and asked Him
to prove the doctor’s report negative. Thereafter, I needed to
go to the toilet. On getting to the toilet to ease myself, the
fibroid came out of me. Surprisingly there was no drop of
blood and all the pain stopped immediately. To God be all
the glory. - Obaro E.
God Answers Prayers
I want to return all the glory to the God of this commission
that always answers our prayers. Sometime ago, I met with a
brother at work and from our interactions, I discovered he
was also born again and an Associate Pastor in another

church, hence every attempt to invite him to church did not
materialise because of his commitment to his church. I kept on
sharing with him our tracts and our prayer points. After a
while we lost contact because he moved on to another
company for work. However, about 4 weeks ago, I saw him in
Church. After the service I went to him and spoke to him and
he said, he feels like now he is home. He also said for a while
now his body has been in the other place, but his spirit has
been here with us. He has now become a committed and
active member of this church, he has attended the believers
foundation class and is now a member of the prayer team. I
want to return all the glory to God because our prayer of
sending the reaper angels to compel the people works and God
always hear us. - John A.
Daughter brought back to life via the anointing oil
I give God all the glory God shut down the mouth of death
and brought her back to life. Some objects got into her mouth
and in two minutes she was completely dead and
unresponsive. She was in the care of my husband that day as I
had gone to work. My husband gave her five slaps on the back
but that did not help. He performed cardiopulmonary
resuscitation and pressed her chest but this did not help either.
After a while, he started praying and singing and then the
Holy Spirit reminded him to use the anointing oil we got on
Sunday. So, he poured the anointing oil into her mouth and
then the objects came out in one minute. After the objects
came out she was still unresponsive. He continued singing and
praising and the Holy Spirit told him to give her the second
shot. He gave her the second shot and in a second she was
startled and jumped up. Praise God! - Patricia O
