Fold the hanky in half diagonally (see diagram 1). 2. Fold two opposite corners toward the center of the hanky until they meet in the back (see diagram 2). 3. Fold two opposite corners again toward center of the hanky until they meet in the back (see diagram 3). 4. Fold the top of the hanky approximately 1-1/2” down from the top (see diagrams 4 and 5). 5. Sew the two doilies together with buttons on the top two corners. Hand-stitch the bottom corners of the doilies to the top fold of the hanky with white floss. 6. Attach the hanky dress to the wire hanger with the mini clothespins. 7. Tie the ribbon around the waist and tie a bow in the back. Embroidered Hankies Recipe Embroidered Hanky Needle Case Wimpole Street Creations embroidered hanky Wimpole Street Creations 4” square hemstitched doily Craft size piece of white felt 15” piece of 3/8” coordinating ribbon 9” of narrow lace trim Decorative button 6 yards of coordinating embroidery floss cut Chenille needle 5” Matching thread Fabric glue, optional 1. Press the hanky. Cut away 5” as shown. Cut a piece of felt the same size as the remaining hanky piece. 2. Pin the narrow lace on the right side of the hanky as shown in the photo. Pin the hanky right side down on the felt. 3. Cut a 3” piece from the ribbon for a button loop. Fold the ribbon and place between the layers at the center of the back cover with the loop toward the inside. Pin in place. 4. Stitch around the hanky, very close to the hemmed edges and along the cut edge, catching the lace trim and button loop in the stitching. Leave an opening to turn right side out. Hand-stitch the opening closed. Press the seams. 5. Blanket-stitch around the outside of the case and thread the floss through the narrow lace. Fold the case and mark the center back fold. Mark two places on the fold approximately 1-1/2” apart. Thread the ribbon through the marks from the inside and tie into a bow on the outside. Fold over 1/2" on one edge of the square doily to form a cuff and sew on the inside back cover for a pocket. 6. Close the case to determine the placement of the outside button on the front cover to align with the loop. 7. Sew or glue buttons, yo-yos and other trims to the inside of the case to embellish as desired. Place the hanky right side down. Place the note card on top of the hanky as shown. Fold the right and left sides of the hanky toward the center, overlapping the points (see diagram 1). 2. Fold the hanky up over the bottom of the note card. The size of the hanky will determine how far up the fold will be (see diagram 2). 3. Fold the top of the hanky down over the top of the note card (see diagram 3). Wrap the ribbon around the note card and accent with crochet lace.
