The Harvest
The Pastor’s Study
When I was a child I always
loved the season leading up to Thanksgiving. I can still remember how the classroom at school was decorated with pictures reminding us of the Pilgrims. I also
remember how we studied about how the
Pilgrims gathered with the Indians to
celebrate a feast to give thanks for a successful harvest season. Most of our
thoughts of Thanksgiving date from this
first season of giving thanks that took
place in 1621. This may have been the
first recognition of a season to give
thanks, but it was certain not the last.
We know from history that
throughout the Revolutionary War, days
of thanksgiving were set aside with regularity by the Congress. Sometimes these
days were to give thanks in general and at
other times they were set aside to give
thanks for a very specific reason. None- was amended later to be designated at the

At first we may think,
“The Messiah, again?”
But then we say, “Yes!
The Messiah, again!” The
wonder of Christmas is to
be able to celebrate the
coming of the long
awaited, Messiah. So, as
we come again to this
season of marvel and
anticipation, we sing of the Messiah that was long
awaited.
The excitement this year is looking forward to the
presentation of this loved classic art work. The Messiah
Chorus, comprised of singers in our church and
community, will share several selections from Handel’s
MESSIAH in a unique service on Sunday, December 9 at
6:30 p.m. in the Churchill Museum chapel on the
Westminster College campus in Fulton, MO. The
SpiritRing handbell ringers will begin the evening with
some beautiful Christmas music, and Gerri Ogle will
also play on the pipe organ.
Then, we will join the Messiah Chorus and soloist on
Sunday, December 16 at First Baptist Church to present
the Christmas portion of Handel’s MESSISAH in the
sanctuary at 6:00 p.m.
November 16-18
“Higher Ground” from SBU will be
leading worship and our breakout
groups again this year.
The cost will be $40 per student.
Be sure to sign up A.S.A.P.!
There is a “SURPRISE” trip
planned and there is limited
space.
Invite friends and relatives to celebrate Christmas in
perhaps a new way to say, “Hallelujah” for the Messiah
who has come to save the world.

Needs:
The best thing to invest in is not
possessions, the stock market, or even in
real-estate. It is OUR youth that will one
day be in OUR shoes.
You can do this by volunteering your
time a few minutes here and there. It
will make a BIG
impact when
they know that
we care for them
and their future.
Ask about
opportunities! :)
