Wanna get “more” out of Mass? Here are some helpful hints and some things
we’re gonna to do to make the time we spend at Mass a more prayerful and
reverent experience and encounter with Christ.
10 Things we can all do together (priests and people)
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.
Be there five minutes early, being ten minutes late every week hurts your prayer and others.
Priests can eliminate (I’m guilty) a second homily and announcements after Communion.
Decide to make bathroom trips during Mass for true emergencies only.
Priests can commit to taking a minute of silent prayer after Communion.
Learn why receiving Holy Communion on the tongue was always the long standing tradition.
I will commit to retraining some lectors & servers, sometimes I slack, which isn’t good .
Go to Confession after Mass, when done your soul and the parking lot will be clear.
If you’re early, and when folks get there after you smile and either move down the pew or
step out to let people in. Please don’t let a family of five have to climb over you.
9. Stay out of the vestibule after Communion……our soul can’t be in deep union with Jesus in
the Eucharist if our feet and mind are already half (or more) out the door.
10. Remember these are helpful hints which are there not to point people out but to help them
out in truly and effectively praying the Mass as God deserves it to be prayed.
Senior citizens & Adult
children of seniors @ St.
Mary’s
Often our homebound seniors or
folks in care facilities miss the
contact of their parish.
Sometimes people move & don’t
tell us or the privacy laws in
hospitals or nursing homes leave
us priests knowing a lot less
than you think we do, lol. Do us a
favor? If you know a family
member who would love a
visit....or just a weekly hello call
from us, let us know. Call us w/
their name, number and
relationship and we can set
something up.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO TEACH AND ASSIST
10. The best way to learn is to teach.
If your own faith education ended years ago, the
resources and materials you are exposed to as a
catechist refreshes & expands your own knowledge.
9. Catechists tell the truth.
The world needs the message of the Gospel and the
way to true happiness; as a catechist, you offer a
hungry world that sustenance.
8. Sharing the faith is an honor.
Fewer than 1 percent of Catholics are catechists.
Start your engines for Camp Veritas….
www.campveritas.org for more sign
up info for a great summer camp and
Catholic experience. 150 kids from
Saint Mary’s are already signed up.
7. Your own faith will come alive.
You will discover that prayer, liturgy and your own
relationship with God will become more vibrant.
6. You become a crucial part of your parish.
When you join the catechists in your parish, you enter
into a community that will support you on your faith
journey, pray for and with you and encourage you in
your Catholic way of life.
5. A catechist is a role model.
As a catechist, you get to model behaviors young
people might not learn anywhere else.
4. You will be practicing stewardship.
Being a catechist is a way of being a good steward by
giving a bit of your most precious resource -- your time.
3. You show your own family that you value the faith.
Taking time out of your life to teach the faith shows
your own children, grandchildren, siblings and family
members that you put a priority on religious education.
2. It's fun.
Kids remind adults to live and laugh in the moment
and get enthused about things
like holy days and stories of saints.
Tuesday Nights we have a rosary
at 7pm and on Thursdays in the
summer we’ll have a devotional
group praying the Chaplets at
7pm in the Church.
1. It's what we are called to do.
At the end of his earthly ministry, Jesus said:
"Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations."
