Teaching notes
This Blockbuster uses urban land use patterns at a KS4 examination level. Students are assumed
to have knowledge of the Burgess land use model (concentric circles or zones) and the Hoyt
sector model for MEDC cities, the traditional LEDC urban model and the Harris and Ullman multi
nuclei model.
It may be necessary to edit some of the questions and answers depending on the students’
geographical vocabulary e.g. question 3 with CZ as the concentric zone model rather than the
concentric circle model and question 15 with OS as ‘Open space’ instead of ‘Open land’ etc.
