The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. day was a great suc:ess thanks to all our citizens, employees and friends )f East Spencer. We are asking everyone to join on of the :ommittees or advisory Boards in order to help move 3ast Spencer forward. You may say, "Well I just lon't have the time. - Let me explain; what if you lave only two hours to give a week. Your neighbor nay have three hours, and someone else may have ly e hours. If we put those hours together; that's ten lours a week or forty hours a month to fulfill a proect for East Spencer. In other words it becomes more han enough. RECEIPE OF THE MONTH Cherry Cheesecake 1 (9 inch) prepared graham cracker crust 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk 1/3 cup lemon juice 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 (21 ounce) can cherry pie filling From the office of the Town Administrator The Board Town and administrative staff are working on a number of thin gs to improve the quality of life in East Spencer and the appearance of our community. Our snowflake Christmas lights are also winter season decorations. Therefore we are leaving these lights turned on from around 6 PM to around midnight through the month of February. We believe they boost spirits and brighten our long winter evening. Our spotlights on Town hall will soon be replaced and new flags will be installed on our fla g -poleswithdukoawnlight oalwrundthe God tells us in Luke 19:17, "that if we are 'aithful stewards over the little things we have, he will nultiply: not only to bless us with more than enough, )ut so that we can meet more needs. Spencer The Dunbar High School was named in tribute to poet PAUL LAURENCE DUNBAR (7872-1906). With the advent of integration in 1969, it ceased operating as a high school but remained open as North Rowan Middle until a new school replaced it in the 1990s. Shady Grove Baptist Church purchased the property in 2009. It's now known as Paul Laurence Dunbar Business and Community Enrichment Center. 1. Place softened cream cheese in a mixing bowl; add condensed milk, lemon juice, and vanilla. Beat until well blended. Pour mixture into the pie crust. Chill for 5 hours. DO NOT FREEZE!!! 2. Pour cherry pie filling on top of pie. 3. Serve. Darren Westmoreland has been recently appointed as Chief of Police effective February 1st. Westmoreland has served as Interim Chief since July 2011.He has served in the East Spencer Police Department since November 2010. Prior to coming to East Spencer, Westmoreland served in the Davidson County Sheriffs Department as a School Resource Officer from 2000 to 2009 and in the Randolph County's Sheriff Department prior to that.
