Administrator’s Corner
The “News Brief”Oftentimes I write about the building upgrades
but we fail to share all the clinical updates that
we also make. I thought I would highlight the
newest in “briefs”. Technology is constantly
evolving, which is no different in the world of
incontinence management. Our main focus
when choosing a particular brief is to reduce
skin breakdown, increase comfort and elevate
the patient’s quality of life. For this reason, our
company has moved to using Prevail briefs.
The new technology wicks away the moisture
allowing patients to feel dry, potentially reducing falls. It also protects the skin due to breathable fibers allowing for healthier skin. Lastly,
due to the gains in removing moisture away
from the skin, patients are able to sleep
through the night which has proven results for
reduced anxiety, falls and agitation.
I encourage you to join us to hear more.

Stuffed Artichokes
Trim the top and stems of the artichokes and then
place the artichokes upside down and then turn
side up and separate leaves to make room for the
stuffing.
The stuffing:
Wet Italian bread
Black Olives
Grated Cheese
Parsley
Garlic
Salt
Olive Oil
1 Egg for every 6 artichokes
Mix all the ingredients into a bowl and then stuff
the center of the artichokes.
Place the stuffed artichokes in a pan with the
water almost touching the top of the artichoke
and tip the cover of the pan. Place a little olive oil
on the top of the artichokes. Simmer for about
one hour actually tasting the leaves to make sure
they are soft enough to eat.
A man at a restaurant asked
the waiter
"Say, what is this in my
soup?"
the waiter looked carefully at
the soup.
"I can't say sir. I don't know
one insect from another."
A mother told her mischievous son
"Every time you are bad I get another grey hair."
"Gee Mom,You must have been really bad wnen you
were young. Just look
at grandma's hair." replied the son.
Did you hear about the guy who is such an optimist
that every year he goes down to the city hall to see
if his marriage license has expired?
2017
On April 30, 1789, George Washington took the
oath as the first president of the United States. The
oath was administered by Robert R. Livingston, the
Chancellor of New York, on a second floor balcony of Federal Hall, above a crowd assembled in the
streets to witness this historic event. President
Washington and the members of Congress then
retired to the Senate Chamber, where Washington
delivered the first inaugural address to a joint session of Congress. Washington humbly noted the
power of the nations' call for him to serve as president and the shared responsibility of the president
and Congress to preserve "the sacred fire of liberty" and a republican form of government.
At that auspicious moment marking the birth of the
federal government under the Constitution, Senator
William Maclay of Pennsylvania observed that
even the great Washington trembled when he faced
the assembled representatives and senators. "This
great man was agitated and embarrassed," Maclay
added, "more than ever he was by the leveled Cannon or pointed Musket." After concluding his remarks, the President and Congress proceeded
through crowds lined up on Broadway to St. Paul's
Church, where a service was conducted. Social
gatherings and festivities closed the nation's first
inaugural day. Subsequent presidential inaugurations took place on March 4th (or March 5th when
the fourth fell on a Sunday), until the Twentieth
Amendment changed the date to January 20th beginning in 1937.
The first President of the United States, George Washington, delivered the shortest inaugural address at 135
words? Or that William McKinley's 1901 inauguration was the first one to be filmed?

Christmas Carolers filled our
home with the
Sounds of the Season.
Many thanks to the North Providence Girl
Scouts who delighted us with a special
evening performance. Also, the visit from
Ricci Middle School Band really lifted our
spirits. Thanks to band teacher, Greg who
made this possible. St. Anthony Church’s
Annual donation of hundreds of presents
to the residents is quite overwhelming.
The children add a lot of cheer, caroling in
the evening.

Martin Luther King Day in the United States
Martin Luther King Day is a federal holiday held on the third Monday of January. It celebrates the life
and achievements of Martin Luther King Jr., an influential American civil rights leader. He is most wellknown for his campaigns to end racial segregation on public transport and for racial equality in the United
States.
It is a federal holiday, but has slightly different names in some states. Non-essential Government departments are closed, as are many corporations. Some schools and colleges close but others stay open and
teach their students about the life and work of Martin Luther King.
Small companies, such as grocery stores and restaurants tend to be open, although a growing number are
choosing to close on this day. Some compensate by opening on Washington's Birthday instead. Recent
federal legislation encourages Americans to give some of their time on Martin Luther King Day as volunteers in citizen action groups. Public transit systems may or may not operate on their regular schedule.
