April Lectures and Events Monday, April 3 Music with Dr. Paul: April Showers When we think of songs about rain, one of the first of the grand old songs we think about is “April Showers,” which was written by Louis Silvers with lyrics by B. G. De Sylva. The song was introduced in the 1921 Broadway musical Bombo, where it was performed by Al Jolson. This class will explore the many songs associated with rain. Perhaps the names Burt Bacharach, Gene Kelly, The Carpenters, Bob Dylan, and more recently, the late Prince will bring some titles to mind.
