SOCIALVILLE-FOSTERSROADREOPENSTOTRAFFICWITHMAJORIMPROVEMENTSTOBRIDGE
OVERI-71,ADDITIONALLANES,NEWROUNDABOUT&PEDESTRIANIMPROVEMENTS
SouthwestOhiotransportationpartnersdelivermajorWarrenCountyprojectunderbudgetand
sixweeksaheadofschedule
MASON,OH(November16,2016)–TheWarrenCountyTransportationImprovementDistrict(WCTID)
announcedtodaythattheimprovementworkthatrequiredafullclosureonSocialville-FostersRoadattheI-71
bridgehasbeencompleted,andtheroadisnowopentothroughtraffic.
WarrenCountyEngineerNeilTunisoncongratulatedtheregionalprojectteamforcompletingtheprojectsix
weeksaheadofschedule.“Socialville-FostersRoadisanimportanteast-westarteryinWarrenCountyforpeople
travelingtoandfromagrowingnumberofemploymenthubsandotherlocaldestinationsinourarea,”said
Tunison.“Wearegratefultotheprojectteamfortheirhardworkonthisproject,andformovingsafelyand
swiftlytocompletethisworkwellaheadofschedule.”
TheSocialville-FostersRoadprojectteamwasledbytheWarrenCountyTransportationImprovementDistrict,in
partnershipwiththeCityofMasonandtheOhioDepartmentofTransportation(ODOT).Tunisonalso
commentedthattheprojectwascompletedunderbudget,withthefinalconstructioncostanticipatedtobe
approximately$6.5million.
Sociallville-FostersRoadhasbeenwidenedfromtwotofivelanesfromInnovationWaytoColumbiaRoad,and
thebridgeoverI-71hasbeenreplaced.Additionaltravellaneswereaddedtoeasecongestionforlocalbusiness
andresidentialtrafficmovingthroughthishigh-trafficarea.
Alsoaspartofthisproject,anewdouble-laneroundaboutwascompletedearlierthisyearatSocialville-Fosters
RoadandInnovationWay,alongwithintersectionandsignalimprovementsatColumbiaRoad.Roundaboutsare
recognizedforincreasingsafetybyreducingpotentialconflictpoints,andimprovingtraveldelaysbyeliminating
trafficsignals.
AnewsouthboundrightturnlanehasalsobeenaddedattheintersectionofSocialville-FostersRoadand
ColumbiaRoad,whichprovidesaccesstothenewly-constructedFestofacilityof175,000squarefeet–aMasonbasedindustrialcontrolandautomationcompanythatrepresents$50millioninnewinvestmentandmorethan
250newjobs.Anewfive-footwidepedestrianwalkwayonthenorthsideoftheroadbetweenInnovationWay
andColumbiaRoadsupportssaferpedestriantravelinthearea.

TheworkonSocialville-FostersRoadispartofacoordinatedregionaltransportationprogramthatprovidessafer
travelandbetteraccessforresidentialtraffic,localbusinessandsupportsfuturedevelopmentinsouthwest
WarrenCounty.
TheWarrenCountyTransportationImprovementDistrictisworkingcloselywithitspartnerstoupgradethe
infrastructureoflocalroadstosupportincreasedtraveltoagrowingnumberofindustry-leadingbusinessesand
world-classtourismdestinations.Nextyear,workwillbeginonI-71attheWesternRowRoadInterchange,a
projectthatwillprovidefullmovementaccessattheinterchange–northboundon-andoff-rarmps,aswellas
southboundon-andoff-rampswillbebuilttoeasecongestionandimprovesafetyatthisimportantaccesspoint
alongtheI-71businesscorridor.
