The staff and I are so proud of all the accomplishments our students have made this year. We would like to thank our PTA and all of you for your support and contributions to helping make Patterson such a great place for our students to grow and learn. This was the year we introduced the Patterson Positive Pillars; Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible. Our students earned over 1000 tickets this year for demonstrating those valued characteristics! We celebrated their successes along with you and are so proud of how well they did. We are especially pleased to introduce the citizenship awards which will be presented on Monday, June 6, 2011. Students were nominated for outstanding demonstration of the Patterson Positive Pillars. These are the students who are safe, respectful and responsible citizens even when no one is looking, and would be without an incentive. In our fifth grade classes, students were asked to nominate peers for this reward. For younger grades, any staff member could nominate up to two students per class/grade. “Because I knew you, I’ve been changed for good.” – from Wicked Thank you for eighteen years In addition to being great kids, Patterson Prairie Dogs are Smart too! They continued to excel in every class and subject. Patterson was again awarded the Excellence in Education Award for continuing to exceed state standards on the Illinois State Achievement Test. In addition to this summative test, our staff continued to use formative assessments to know each child in their care as individual learners and monitor their progress. Their aim is and has always been to help every child learn and grow to their fullest potential. It’s been a great year of growth! filled with joy. It has been a privilege. Love, Ms. Molly Martin “If you can walk, you can dance; As the year comes to a close, the staff and I would like to wish good luck to the 5th grade class of students and parents as they move on to Crone Middle School. The fifth graders are a caring and wonderful group of students that will be missed. We know they will continue to grow and learn at Crone our wish is for them to stay true to their values and continue to support each other as they move on in their education. We know you will stay involved in their education, even if they make you drop them off a block away from the school. We also know our fourth graders are ready to assume leadership roles at Patterson such as Safety Patrol and daily role model to our younger students. We look forward to working with this group of young leaders and all our returning families next year. if you can talk you can sing.” (Swahili) My new school address: Georgetown Elementary School 995 Long Grove Drive Aurora, IL 60504 Please enjoy your time away, but keep encouraging your children to read over the summer and to Be Safe, Be Respectful, and Be Responsible!
