Hypothesis Vs. Theory
1. Define a hypothesis (When answering this question please
avoid using the words “educated guess”). A hypothesis
must be ‘testable,’ what does that mean? Is a hypothesis
just guessing?
2. What is a theory? How does one scientist’s hypothesis
become a theory? How ’strong’ (or close to a fact) is a
theory?
3. When a sportscaster has a “theory” about which team will
win, what does he base it on? After answering this question
do you think that the sportscaster stated a hypothesis or
