Mechanics: Final essay
Basics
•  A final essay is a component of how students will be
assessed in EECS 1001.
•  To pass the essay, a student must achieve 50% of the
attainable marks on the essay.
•  Essays will be due in April 2016 (exact date TBA); hardcopy
must be placed in the course drop box in the Lassonde
Building no latter than 23:59 on that date.

Mechanics: Final essay
Essay content
•  The essay should discuss and
interrelate 3 of the course lectures
associated with quizzes.
•  The introductory paragraph 0 should
identify the 3 lectures that are discussed
and briefly explain the motivation for
selecting these lectures for the essay
(15% of marks).
•  Paragraphs 1-3 should provide
overviews of the 3 lectures (15% of
marks for each paragraph).
•  The final paragraph should provide
conclusions (15% of marks).
•  Paragraphs 1-3 and/or the concluding
paragraph should interrelate the 3
lectures covered in the essay (15% of
marks).

Mechanics: Final Essay
Format
•  Length: 1 page
•  Font: Times New Roman, 12 point
•  Spacing: Single spaced
•  Margins: 1 inch margins all around (left, right, top and
bottom).
•  Must be typed; hand written essays will not be accepted.
•  During marking, no text that exceeds this format will be
considered.
•  Adhering to format is worth 10% of the attainable marks.
