WOW Starter: Stone Age to Iron Age Experience Experiences/Visits/Learning Outdoors: Being a time detective - archaeologist Opportunities to explore the curriculum: History (1st Half of Term) Geography To increase knowledge and understanding about life during the periods: Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age. Not covered this half term English Class reader – ‘Stig of the Dump’, Recount of Stone Age to Iron Age day and linked writing. Write a description of the chalk pit. Write a news report of Barney falling into the chalk pit. Write from the point of view of Stig. Measuring height of each other, recording data and creating a bar chart. Sort Stig’s rubbish to create a bar chart. Animals including humans. To design and make a bronze age brooch to wear to our Year 3 celebration. Ukulele The Raven Clan – Iron Age play BIG QUESTIONS – Which time period would you rather live in? What would be most important to you if you lived in these times? How is it different to what is most important to you now? To create a dance for the character Stig in ‘Stig of the Dump’ using the Haka for inspiration. Maths Science/Technology Art/Music/Drama PSHE PE MFL ICT Creating Excel spreadsheets to create a bar chart. Learning in the Community: Visit from Elder Pip to inspire work on the Stone Age to the Iron Age. Celebration: Children to act out The Raven Clan play to the parents, wearing their Bronze Age brooch from D.T. and an opportunity for parents to look at the children’s work in the classroom.
