The King’s Voice
Wednesday Night Bible Study Begins 8/17
Beginning on Wednesday, August 17th @
7:00p.m., there will be a 4 week study on
Proverbs. There are 31 Chapters and
we will look at how this book is divided
and the many Proverbs it contains. We
study proverbs that we may know
wisdom and instruction and understand
words of insight and receive instructions in wise dealing,
righteousness, justice and equity. So as it says in
Proverbs4:11, Do not miss this class because it says, “Do
not enter the path of the wicked and do not walk in the way
of evil men.” Instead, join me and others in the class for it
says in Proverbs 8:32b, “..happy are those who keep my
ways.” If you have any questions, see Deacon Bob.
Thank You Stacey May
for putting on the
Ladies Night Dinner
About 23 ladies shared
laughs and fellowship.
If you missed it the
next one will be in
September.
The Boar’s Head Festival
On January 6th, 2017 @
7:00p.m. Christ the King will present a Boar’s
Head Festival for our community. The
entertainment offered as part of the festivities
includes a Boar’s Head Procession.
The presentation of the slain Boar’s Head
signifies the triumph of the Christ Child over
sin.
There will be a sign up sheet in the Bulletin this
week.
I know it seems very far
away, but it takes months
and months of
preparation in order for
this wonderful Festival to
be a success. Please take
the time to fill out the sign
up sheet that is in your
bulletin and turn it in.
Cursillo Grouping
CTK Prayer Team
DeColores! A Cursillo grouping is
held at Christ the King at 10 a.m.
on the first and third Fridays of
each month. Please join us in the
Sanctuary as we live our Fourth
Day. We pray, share God’s
love, and our piety. It is a
wonderful time of sharing and
support.
Did you know that Christ the King has a
prayer team available for prayers at the
back of the church each Sunday following
communion? The team stands near the
candles in the way back and welcomes
those who come to ask for specific
prayers.
God’s presence in our lives and share His
peace. Please consider joining the
team. There is a role for everyone. You
could start by just joining us in silent
prayers of support as the other team
members pray. If you are interested,
please see Mother Carolyn, Joy Parker or
any team member.
Did you also know that we are looking for
new team members? If you feel led to pray
for and with others, please consider
becoming a member of the prayer
team. Prayer helps us to more fully enjoy
Last, I would ask everyone at CTK to pray
for the Prayer Team, Pray that the Team
would experience God's peace as we pray
for the needs of others.
Linda Has been here for he past two Sunday’s and is delighted to meet the friendly people of
Christ the King. She looks forward to serving as your Music Director/Worship Leader. Her
most recent experience in music ministry was as keyboard player at St. Stephen’s in south
Lakeland, prior to taking a break to care for her mother, who recently passed away. She has
worked for the past 14 years as administrative assistant for “Go Take A Hike,” a Lakelandbased walkathon company which holds fundraising events in elementary schools.
A native
Lakelander, Linda has been married for 36 years to her husband Steven. They have
three adult daughters: Sara, who lives with her husband in western Kentucky; Stephanie, who
is presently relocating to Virginia with her husband and 2-year-old daughter; and Becky, who
lives in Lakeland and recently led a Lenten series here at CTK. Linda and Steven have been
members at St. Stephen’s for 29 years. They have both been involved in music ministry for
many years, both traditional and contemporary.
Please take the time to introduce yourself and make the Toalster’s feel welcome here.
Training will be starting soon. If you are interested, please let Mother Carolyn know.
Are you looking for a ministry to plug into at CTK?? Please consider joining
us on the CTK Kitchen Team! This is a perfect place to volunteer if your time
is limited, you do not want to be out in the evenings at meetings, or you just
want to be close to all the goodies on Sunday morning!! Your commitment
would be for one Sunday per month or less. This time would include set up
and clean up of the Coffee Hour and bringing something to share. We also
prepare meals for occasional events in the life of our Church and I would like
to have a list of volunteers to call on when these events are scheduled. I will
be your contact for questions about the kitchen. If you are looking for a place
to become more involved in the life of our Church, prayerfully consider the
Kitchen Team. It is fun and a great way to share your time and talents and a
little known fact of Church Kitchens might sway you our way......there are no
calories in broken cookies or treats when you are preparing the trays!! Please
call me and sign up today!! Thank you, Marty Piotrowski, 863-632-3396
Please fill out the copy of this form that is inside your
bulletin today and place in the offering plate.

Notes From the Office
Please get with Mother Carolyn if you are interested in
becoming a part of this wonderful Order.
As Administrator here at Christ the
King for the past 5 years, I have seen
A LOT of changes. The attendance
numbers we are pulling this summer
are truly remarkable! We haven’t
seen these numbers since 2010.
Thank You Jesus!, Thank You
Mother Carolyn! It takes EVERY
ONE of us to make this church
successful. As I sit at my desk
writing this article, I can look out my
window and see two wonderful
women caring for our church. Weed
eating, edging, killing weeds. ALL IN
THIS 95 degree heat. Thank you
Debbie Hilliard and Betty Phillips.
Your hard work is greatly
appreciated. We want everyone to
not just come to church here, but to
feel part of the wonderful family. So
join us will you? Join the readers
team, or the Kitchen team, or the
prayer team, or the choir, or the Altar
Guild team, or the Children’s chapel
team or the greeters/ushers team.
You can do as little or as much as you
want. I challenge you to pray about
which team to join, but join a team!!
You will be glad you took that step, I
promise. It is my pleasure to be your
Administrator, please call me with
any questions or concerns you may
have.
Love, Chris Leiva
Come join us for an exciting Vacation Bible school experience! Christ the King will be holding our Vacation Bible School
in the evenings from Wednesday, August 3rd to Saturday, August 6th. We will have a final activity on Sunday
morning with our 10 o’clock Service on Sunday, August 7th. Our theme is “Power Lab- Discovering Jesus’s
Miraculous Power”, featuring science-themed lessons that captivate the kids and bring home some powerful lessons:
Day 1: Jesus gives us the power to be thankful.
Day 2: Jesus gives us the power to help others.
Day 3: Jesus gives us the power to be brave.
Day 4: Jesus gives us the power to live forever.
Day 5: Jesus gives us the power to tell others about God.
Our activities will include amazing science, wacky fun, cool crafts, wonderful worship and song!
The fun begins with a kid friendly supper from 5:30-6:00 p.m and wraps up at 8 p.m. each evening. Make sure your
family is part of the fun! Registration forms are available on our website or in the hall! See Jessie Beck or Rose
Fernburg for more information.
Lists and Things
Okay, here are the correct answers from last month’s Ten Commandment challenge. Actually, I hope
you went home and looked them up Sunday afternoon. But in case you got real busy, here they are:
__1.___ I am God. You shall have no other gods but Me.
__2.___ You shall not make for yourself carved statues, you shall not bow down to them.
__3.___ You shall not use the name of the Lord your God to cuss or swear.
__4.____Remember to attend church every Sunday.
__5.___You shall respect your father and your mother.
__6.___You shall not murder.
__7.___ You shall not commit adultery.
__8.___You shall not steal.
__9.___ You shall not lie.
_10.___ You shall not desire your neighbor's house, nor his wife, nor anything that is your neighbor's.
So this month the golfing buddies tried to come up with the names of the original 12 apostles and the
name of the disciple who replaced the Apostle who betrayed Jesus. I found it interesting that they came
up with 15 names. Underline the names of the Original 12 Apostles and a square around the betrayer’s
replacement. Again, see if you can do it before you look them up. See you next month.
