Cutting
F. 24408-R (red star print)
• Cut (4) 57/8" strips; subcut (24) 57/8" squares.
Cut each square diagonally in half to yield forty-eight
half-square triangles.
• Cut (1) 51/2" strip; subcut four 51/2" squares.
Note: All strips are cut across the width of the selvage
(perpendicular to selvages) unless noted otherwise.
A. 24405 E (tan flag panel)
• Cut ten panel blocks 73/4" square keeping motif centered.
G. Color Blends: 23528-YZ (blue tonal print)
• Cut (12) 17/8" strips; subcut (20) 17/8" x 73/4" strips
and (20) 17/8" x 101/2" strips.
B. 24406 B (blue flag toss print)
• Cut (2) 71/2" strips; subcut (8) 71/2" squares.
Construction
C. 24407 N (navy bunting print)
• Cut nine identical 31/2" strips. Sew strips together
matching print at each seam; press. From this, cut (2)
31/2" x 72" strips and (2) 31/2" x 92" strips.
Block 1 (10" finished)
1. Sew one (G) 17/8" x 73/4" strip to both sides of one (A)
73/4" panel block. Press toward the strips. Sew one (G)
17/8" x 101/2" strip to the top and bottom of the block.
Press toward the strips. Repeat to make ten Block 1.
D. 24408 E (lt. tan star print)
• Cut (3) 57/8" strips; subcut (16) 57/8" squares. Cut
each square diagonally in half to yield thirty-two halfsquare triangles.
• Cut (4) 111/4" strips; subcut (11) 111/4" squares.
Cut each square diagonally in both directions to yield
forty-four quarter-square triangles.
E. 24408 N (navy star print)
• Cut (4) 111/4" strips; subcut (12) 111/4" squares.
Cut each square diagonally in both directions to yield
forty-eight quarter-square triangles.
• Cut (8) 21/2" strips for binding.

Block 2 (10" finished)
2. Sew one (F) 57/8" triangle to both sides of one (E)
111/4" triangle to complete one flying-geese unit. Press
toward the (F) triangles. Repeat to make fourteen Border
Block 2.
1. Center and sew one (D) 57/8" triangle to opposite sides
of one (B) 71/2" square. Press toward the triangles.
Repeat for the remaining sides of the square. Repeat to
make eight Block 2.

Block 3 (10" finished)
1. Referring to quilt image, sew Blocks 1, 2 & 3 together
into rows. Press seams toward Blocks 1 & 2. Sew rows
together; press.
1. Sew one (D) 111/4" triangle to one (E) 111/4" triangle
along short sides. Press toward the (E) triangle. Repeat to
make thirty-four units.
2. Sew two Border Block 1 alternately with three Border
Block 2. Press seams open. Repeat to make top and
bottom borders.
3. Sew three Border Block 1 alternately with four Border
Block 2. Press seams open. Repeat to make side borders.
4. Sew side borders to quilt matching border and row
seams. Press seams open.
Make 34
5. Sew one (F) 51/2" square to each end of both top and
bottom borders. Press seams open. Sew borders to top
and bottom of quilt; press.
2. Sew two units from step 1 together to complete block.
Press. Repeat to make seventeen Block 3.
6. Center and sew one (B) 31/2" x 92" to both sides of the
quilt beginning and ending stitching a generous 1/4"
from edge of quilt top. Be sure that print is oriented in
the correct direction. Repeat for the top and bottom using
the 31/2" x 72" strips.
7. Close border corners using mitered seams. Trim seams to
1/2" and press open.

Finishing
Border Blocks (5" x 10" finished)
1. Prepare backing and press seams open.
1. Sew one (F) 57/8" triangle to both sides of one (D)
111/4" triangle to complete one flying-geese unit. Press
toward the (F) triangles. Repeat to make ten Border
Block 1.
2. Layer backing, batting and quilt top. Quilt as desired.
3. Trim layers even with quilt top.
4. Prepare binding using (E) 21/2" strips. Sew binding to
quilt using your preferred method.
