ne day Jesus was talking
to his disciples about
choosing to
put God first in their
lives – about not becoming
to the love of money,
a ‘slave’
but rather to use money
is pleasing to God. Jesus
in a way that
said: “If you can be
trusted with little things,
then you can really
be trusted with big things.
To God, money is a
thing. If you can’t be
little
trusted with that, how
can you be trusted with
riches? The choice is
yours, but you cannot
real
be the slave both of
of money.”

CHOICES
God loves us, and sent Jesus
to help
us make good and wise choices.
Ask your child what the word
‘choices’ means to them. Can
they remember a
time when they made a good choice
– something that would have pleased
does it make your child feel when
God? How
they choose to do the right thing?
How do they
decide what is right and what is
wrong? Who helps them to make
good choices?
Whenever we have
choices to make, we candifficult or important
ourselves ‘What would
Jesus do?’ - and then tryask
to do the same
ourselves.
In this coming week, what
else can we do to help us choose
wisely
- to do the right thing? Perhaps
we can: pray for God’s guidance;
choose
to turn away from anything which
we know is wrong or which feels
wrong;
always check important choices
with our parents, carers or a
wise
and trustworthy person.
Dear Lord Jesus,
help us to be your
trustworthy sons
always put you first
and daughters who
in our lives. Thank
you for helping us
pleasing to you and
to know what is
for helping us to
make wise choices
. Amen.

Week by week the Gospel is entering family homes
Leaflets : the Sunday Gospel leaflets
are designed to ‘sow seeds’ – creating a
new and lively weekly opportunity for the
Word of God to be present in the homes
of those families who are connected
to Catholic primary schools. It’s ‘Good
News’ for school families.
Holiday Specials : designed to
continue ‘sowing seeds’ during the holidays.
The attractive ‘Holiday Special’ booklet
also means the school doesn’t have to hand
out multiple leaflets before the holidays it’s just one item to be handed out on the
Wednesday before each half term holiday.
“The Wednesday Word fulfils many needs. It presents the Word of God in a way that can be understood
by all. There is always something which can be used for reflection, developed for assembly or simply
used for discussion with the children. It also fulfils a need where there is little or no faith in the home by
providing a starting point for families to discuss together.”
Jo Sulkowski, Head Teacher, St Bernadette’s, Ashby, Scunthorpe (July 2013)
“I think The Wednesday Word is a brilliant resource, really well designed and nicely laid out. It brings the
Gospel alive for children and their families. We also use it for discussion in Monday’s assembly.”
Sheila Mouna, Head Teacher, St Anne’s Catholic Primary School, Whitechapel, London (July 2013)
“The Wednesday Word has been incredibly well received by pupils and parents alike! Our children and
their families look forward to receiving it each Wednesday and sharing it together in the home.”
Stephen Wheatley, Head Teacher, Holy Rood Catholic Primary School, Watford (July 2013)
IMPLEMENTATION IS SIMPLE! Every Wednesday in term time,
a Gospel leaflet is ‘gifted’ to the child to take home and read with their parents.
