DRYCOW SIGNALS
Ideally, the transition from dry period to lactation should be smooth. Unfortunately this rarely the case,
but it is possible to get the dry period and the start of lactation under control. When do the preparations
start for a healthy dry period? Actually, they start half-way through lactation. Our training course starts
with the drying-off day and ends 4 weeks after calving. As you’ve come to expect from Vetvice, we explain
dry period management from a variety of angles. We approach it from the perspective of a manager of a
large farm and discuss standard procedures. We identify with the person who has to do the work and ask
how he can achieve top-class results with ease. And we put ourselves in the position of the cow: what does
she need for a good start to lactation? How does she tell us she’s doing well; how does she tell us we need
to take action?
80% of your cows’ problems occur in the transition period.
Any improvement quickly pays for itself.
Every dry cow should eat the correct diet and be in top
condition. Among other things, this means the right condition
score, adequate rest and adequate movement.
PROGRAMME
Language will be English. We aim at small groups from around 5-10 people
Day 1: DryCowSignals day example by Vetvice trainer. Lecture and in barn workshop
Day 2: CowSignals training day, what is new?
Sharing experiences & communication skills, everybody will present a cow or communication related
issue to the group of approximately 5-10 minutes (evening dinner together)
Day 3: Do it yourself: DryCowSignals workshop & discunsion, certification and feedback.
Program starts at 9 o clock Tuesday morning and finishes at 16.00 on Thursday afternoon. You can catch a
flight back home from around 19.30 on Thursday afternoon. Or spent a night in Amsterdam…
COME AND GO
We will book a room in the hotel for you. You have to book your own flight.
You can fly into Holland on Monday evening. Please let me know when you arrive, and if you want
to check in your hotel in Wijchen on Monday night. Hotel and training centre are 10 km away from each
other.
FARM VISITS
We supply you with hygienic boots and coveralls because we will work in between the cows. So you do not
have to bring any coveralls and wellingtons.
QUALIFICATIONS
We work with vets, feed advisors, breed advisors, herd managers, hoof trimmers, herd managers and barn
designers. Background knowledge of dairy farming, health, feeding,
breeding or housing is welcome, but more important is that you are
open minded, cow-minded and have an interest in communicating
and working with people.

PRICE (3 DAYS TRAINING)
3 days including lectures, farm visits, lunches, lecture room, coffee, tea. Also including the CowSignals®
trainer franchise fee until December 31th of this year, which gives you the right to use the name,
powerpoint presentation(with more than 100 pictures) and checklists in your country.
Trainers will pay 150 euros per year franchise costs to be listed as official CowSignals
trainers.
Advisors will pay 75 euro per year franchise costs to be listed as official CowSignals
advisor.
Total price per person for 3 days Certified DryCowSignals training is 1495 euro pp + tax
21% (tax paid abroad can be refunded, or not charged if you provide us your VAT number,
ask your accountant). Not included in this price are flight, transport, hotel, breakfast,
diners and drinks at night. Hotel costs are 65 euro for bed and breakfast per night.
FUTURE
Thanks you for your trust in our CowSignals® concept. It will take time to persuade farmers
and advisors. We aim for a long term relationship and like to transfer all our knowledge and skills,
concepts, presentations and checklists to you in the future. Next courses are CowSignals, ClawSignals,
YoungStockSignals, Fertility Signals, Udder health Signals, RobotSignals and Building for the cow.
Certified CowSignals Trainers do the basic 4 day training on CowSignals and pay an annual franchise fee to
have the rights to use name and material to provide workshops and lectures countrywide, of 150 euro per
training subject .(CowSignals 150 euro, ClawSignals 150 euro etc). If you want to use Cowsignals in more
than one country you pay 150 euro per country per year. We bill you automatically per year in January for
the coming year, until you inform us about not using the concept, name and material anymore. Certified
CowSignals Advisors will pay 75 euro per year. They can provide workshops amongst their own clients.
After following the first three trainings: CowSignals, ClawSignals and YoungstockSignals Trainers will
become a 3 star member of the CowSignals trainers club! Then you have heard and incorporated
most of our philosophy☺. The annual costs for the rights & material will be steady on 395 euros per
certified trainer per year, instead of raising it with 150 euros per year for every subject. Advisors pay half
of this. This will be your Cowsignals-club-membership fee. We will support you with good cowsignals
information and photo’s in the future, some case studies. You will be part of an international network of
dedicated dairy advisors.
BOOKING
