Deborah Redwood’s art explores
the breaking down of organised
objects and systems, through
ageing or catastrophe, into chaos.
Her sculpture investigates the
steps in break down, the tipping
points and creates new narratives
from what she discovers.
Greer Taylor’s sculpture explores
space, how we define it and how
we exist within it... She uses small
repeated elements or actions to
build a whole, reflecting the small
repeated elements that create the
life and systems in which we live.
Judy Bourke creates prints, artist
books, sculpture and textiles.
She exhibits with printmaking
and artist books groups. She
has participated in international
exchanges and exhibitions of
prints and artist books.
Mai Nguyen-Long’s work is
inspired by day-to-day psycho
emotional journeys and a desire to
understand these within a broader
social-cultural context.
Moira Kirkwood is a Wollongongbased painter and poet who has
exhibited all over Australia. On
a good day she gets her ego
out of the way long enough to
enter into a state of flow. This is
generally when some interesting
art happens.
Jane Bennet is a professional
artist, who has painted the
changing urban landscape of
Sydney over the past 30 years
including many industrial sites in
Sydney that were off limits to the
public.
Melissa Ritchie is a 2016 Archibald
finalist. Predominately working in
portraiture, her paintings are vivid,
graphic and often use a sense of
irony to create quirky twists on the
traditional portrait.
India Mark is a Thirroul/Sydney
based figurative painter. Influenced
by traditional genre painting,
portraiture and still life, India’s
work attempts to fuse together
aesthetics from visual cultures,
past and present. India was a
finalist in the 2016 Archibald Prize.
Liz Jeneid works using different
media including textiles,
printmaking, artist books and
drawing - often responding to
place and to political situations.
She enjoys making work while
participating in artist residencies
in different parts of the world.
Kathryn Orton’s work is often
based on familiar places and
exploring how things change. She
works with many print processes
and her arts practice also includes
drawing, artist’s books, painting
and sculptural furniture.
IAVA is a group of highly accomplished artists with networks of like-minded artistic friends and colleagues.
In each talk an IAVA member has invited an artist they admire, for a joint discussion about their artistic practices.
