How To Get Emergency Food from a Pantry in Lane County
Find your local pantry: Find the pantry closest to your home using the grid
above, or by calling FOOD for Lane County at (541) 343-2822
Make sure you income qualify: To access an emergency food pantry you
need to make 185% or less than the federal poverty level using the chart at
the right
Bring a piece of mail if you have an address: In Lane County, each pantry
serves people who live in a certain area. We ask that you bring a piece of
mail with you to show that you live in the area. If you do not have an
address, let the pantry know and you will not be turned away. In the
Eugene area, Catholic Community Services serves Lane County's homeless
community.
You will not need to bring in any identification or paperwork to access food
from a Lane County pantry. Some of our partner agencies provide other
services and may require other documentation for those services, but never
to receieve emergency food.
Bring boxes/bags: You will be given a 3-5 day supply of food for your
household (12-20 lbs.person). It's helpful if you have some means to
transport it.
Be prepared to wait: Sometimes there is great need and lines can be long.
Get to know your home pantry system and personnel to best understand
how each pantry works
You can access a pantry once per month or up to 16 times a year.
If you want to, get involved: Many pantries would love your help. Ask
personnel if they are looking for volunteers--it's a fun way to give back!
