The fire completely devastated the home leaving it uninhabitable and the family lost everything they own. MCD London are working with the family to help them when they are re-housed. Matthew Pitt, Branch Managing Director, expressed his condolences to the family and was quick to offer assistance in response to a Facebook appeal stating, “we will be donating the kitchen appliances, and our engineers will be on hand to make sure everything is installed and ready for when the family are re-housed. It’s only a small token compared to what the family have had to endure, but we wanted to help out in some way.” 40km race over the Scottish Highlands. Each runner has to carry with them all they need to survive for two days in the remotest part of the UK, and navigate their way through the course in all weathers locating and finding secret and hidden checkpoints. ‘Team MCD’ completed the course in 44th place with an overall finish time of 20hrs 30mins and 33secs! A quote from the LAMM website regarding the race was ‘this has been the most talked about course, not to mention the most controversial one, on account of its tough nature going over some very rugged peaks and ridges.’ Joe Byrne who is a seasoned LAMM competitor confirmed this when asked about the course. ‘It was without doubt the most challenging year that I have competed in. The last 5k was an extreme mental challenge but keeping in mind the cause for which we were running drove us to the finish line’. Joe and his dedicated team chose to take part on behalf of Teenage Cancer Trust, a charity dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for young cancer patients aged 13-24. So far they have raised a total of £947. Further donations can be made by visiting their sponsorship page www.justgiving.com/JA-byrne. Well done lads, for an inspiring effort!
