Rameshwar on contemp
porary urbaniism in India. Prof. P.V.K. Rameshwar is a practicing architect, urban designer and academic based in Ahmedabad. After graduating from the prestigious School of Architecture at CEPT, Ahmedabad; he received his Masters degree in Architecture and Urban Design from the Washington University at St. Louis, USA. He is a Professor and the Head of the Masters Program in Urban Design at CEPT University. He also serves as an Urban Design consultant to the University’s Research and Development Consultancy. His partnership practice SHILANYAS, offers consultation in Architecture, Interior Design, Urban Design, Landscape and Jewelry Design. The firm’s work has been widely published in various national and international journals. Prof. Rameshwar is a highly respected urbanist and academician worldwide and has been a pioneer in establishing urban design as a mainstream professional entity in India. He is a founding member and the current Vice‐President of Institute of Urban Designers, India (IUDI). He is an expert member of various national and regional committees and has made critical contributions to books and monographs. He is widely travelled and has lectured and served as a juror on various international panels such as the Les Ateliers workshop in Paris. He serves as a Convenor and Expert Member of COA’s inspection Committee for Architectural/Urban Design Education.
