G308L LEVEL THERE IS GOD PROPER HUMANITY One (Y1-3) * God is Character Points Two (Y4-6) ** God’s Nature Human Relationships Three (Y7-8) *** God’s Law Man in God’s Creation God’s Creation GOD’S ORDERLINESS SEEN ON THE EARTH Notes: 1. Any practical applications and activities provided in the lesson are offered as suggestions to help you in your preparation. They are not meant to direct or limit the ways in which the focus of the lesson can be applied. 2. You are encouraged to pray and contact the Lord to receive His burden and guidance in teaching and applying the lesson. 3. Fellowship with other saints, and inquiring of the children themselves, may also bring out many helpful applications. 4. The questions are designed to guide you as you interact with the children. You do not need to use all of them. BURDEN TO IMPART Creation shows us that God is orderly. SUGGESTED SONGS • • • BIBLE VERSES LESSON IDEAS Who made the Earth so big and round? Did the mountains and the trees just happen? God made the Universe (http://www.children.churchinirvine.org/Songs/God%20made%20the%20universe.mp3) * Genesis 1:14a And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night… ** Genesis 1:30ac And to every animal of the earth and to every bird of heaven…I have given every green herb for food; and it was so. *** Nehemiah 9:6 You are Jehovah, You alone; / You have made heaven, The heaven of heavens with all its host, / The earth and all that is on it, The seas and all that is in them; / And You give life to all of them; And the host of heaven worships You. * Focus: Creation shows us that God is orderly in the water cycle. When God created the Earth, He placed everything in a good order. The water cycle shows how the Earth and its atmosphere were designed in a perfect way. Learn more about the water cycle yourself from the Science Learning Hub (see resources for link). Suggested Learning Experiences • • • ** Water Cycle Worksheet (G308W). Watch and sing the Water Cycle Song from YouTube (see resources). Follow the instructions in the Water Cycle Experiment (see resources) to show how water from the ocean evaporates, condenses and precipitates on land. You might need to introduce these water cycle words to the children. Focus: Creation shows us that God is orderly in the food web. God designed food webs as a system in which plants are food for small animals. The small animals then become food for larger animals. When creating the Universe He made the food before creating higher forms of life. Note that although food webs are complex food systems, young children can begin to learn about them by looking at food chains. A food chain is a simple, linear sequence of feeding relationships found within food webs. The order of the food chain relates to the order of the energy being received. For example, the energy in leaves is transferred to (received by) a caterpillar (the leaves are eaten by the caterpillar). The energy in the caterpillar is then transferred to a bird and then to a cat. The food chain would look like this: leavescaterpillarbirdcat. Suggested Learning Experiences • • • Discuss the pets that the children have at home. What do they eat? What animals do they think their pets wouldn’t like to meet and why? Discuss different animals in the wild and what they like to eat – from small squirrels to large lions. Play a game as a group as you explain the necessity for plants and animals to be placed in a certain order (Food Chain Game - see resources) Children learn about simple food chains through a craft activity where they glue animals to polystyrene cups and then order them according to what is eaten by what (G308A). *** Focus: Creation shows us that God is orderly in the digestive system. The digestive system in the human body breaks down food for us to eat. This shows God’s orderliness in His design of man. Suggested Learning Experiences • • RESOURCES Discuss healthy eating and what the children like to eat. Perhaps they know of people with special diets. Use a worksheet to learn the names of the digestive tract (G308W2). After handing out the worksheet play the video (Digestion System for kids – see resources) for the children to find the answers. They write them into their worksheets.
