Royal News Editors: Jessica, Delaney, Eliza, Addison, Chloe, and Sarah Tuesday, March 7, 2017 A Day Without Immigrants On February 16, 2017 over 100 people were fired from their jobs for partaking in the protest “A Day Without Immigrants”. This was to show the importance of immigrants, to protest against President Trump’s efforts to step up deportations and build a wall at the Mexican border closing the nation’s doors to many travelers, and a travel ban to seven major Muslim countries Iraq, Syria, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia, and Yemen. Not just immigrants were absent from work, but immigrant students as well. The day before “A Day Without Immigrants” workers were warned that if they skipped work without a good reason they will be let go. Shop and restaurant owners in Atlanta, Austin, Detroit, Philadelphia, Portland, San Francisco, Phoenix, Nashville, Albuquerque, Denton, Dallas, Fort Worth, Washington, D.C., and other major U.S. cities closed their doors in a show of solidarity with their workers. Over 50 restaurants were closed in Washington, D.C. on Thursday. -Jessica D. What is Bullying and How To Stop It Every week Royal News will have a topic we will focus on..
