A Day Without
Immigrants
On February 16, 2017 over 100 people
were fired from their jobs for partaking
in the protest “A Day Without
Immigrants”. This was to show the
importance of immigrants, to protest
against President Trump’s efforts to
step up deportations and build a wall at
the Mexican border closing the nation’s
doors to many travelers, and a travel
ban to seven major Muslim countries
Iraq, Syria, Iran, Sudan, Libya,
Somalia, and Yemen. Not just
immigrants were absent from work, but
immigrant students as well.
The day before “A Day Without
Immigrants” workers were warned that
if they skipped work without a good
reason they will be let go.
Shop and restaurant owners in Atlanta,
Austin, Detroit, Philadelphia, Portland,
San Francisco, Phoenix, Nashville,
Albuquerque, Denton, Dallas, Fort
Worth, Washington, D.C., and other
major U.S. cities closed their doors in a
show of solidarity with their workers.
Over 50 restaurants were closed in
Washington, D.C. on Thursday.

B
ecause I’m like a big kid, I like working with
kids, they're fun.

Mr. Bolman and Mr. Werner, they were my 3rd
and 5th grade teachers.
4. When you were a kid what did you think you would
be? What would you have done for your career?

it would be fun to work with him, there was also
Mr. Judd that I had went to college with so I
thought that would also be fun.
After I asked him those important questions I
decided to ask him all his favorite things along with his
age.

Verbal bullying is when the bully might be
saying hurtful words towards the victim,
taunting them, or calling them names. Social
bullying includes when someone is being left
out on purpose, or the bully may be spreading
rumors about them, telling kids not to be friends
with them, embarrassing them in public, or
spreading rumors about the victim.
The last type of bullying is Physical bullying.
Some examples of Physical bullying are when
the bully may be hitting, kicking, or punching
the victim. The bully may be breaking their
things intentionally, or making rude or mean
hand gestures towards the kid that is being
bullied.
If you are a witness to bullying, make
sure that you do something about it and don’t
just let that person get hurt. If you are the victim
of bullying make sure that you tell the bully to
stop. If they keep hurting you tell an adult or a
teacher that you can trust. Let's make sure that
our school is absolutely, bully free.
