THE LIBRARY DOOR IS OPEN
The Sharon Church Library, the room behind the doors to the left as you
enter the sanctuary, is waiting for you to visit, to peruse the shelves, and
when you find a book that interests you, to take it with you.
The library was a gift from a portion of the legacy that Milford J. Baum,
Jr. left to Sharon Church. His parents were charter members of Sharon;
Milford was a lifetime member and supporter of Sharon Church.
The books include United Methodist Women’s books and study
materials, children’s books, reference and study material, novels, etc.
We have an eclectic
collection. The policy is
this: Select a book or
books or other materials
that interest you, take it
with you, keep it as long
as you like, share it with
friends; then return it to
the library or if you love
it or need it, keep it.
We also have old hymn
books that we invite you
to take as many as you
would like with you;
enjoy them at your
home or give one to a
friend to keep forever. It is always fun to have a sing-along at family
gatherings.
United Methodist
Men
You can always count on
UMM to have the best fried
chicken in the south. They
also will be hosting a
pancake and sausage
supper on February 17th
from 5:30 to 7:00 in the
Fellowship Hall. Know someone who could use a Bible. Take one or more from the shelf
of Bibles.
Finally, leave suggestions of materials, books, arrangement…anything
that would make the library a place you would not want to miss.
Look for the new LIBRARY sign, a gift from Claude Rollins
that will soon guide us all to the library.

DAY OF VISIONING AND DREAMS
The meeting of the church leaders and members for the visioning and
planning day could not have gone better. Pastor Susie helped us all
realize our strengths and our weaknesses. As we came together with
snacks in hand we talked and dreamt about where we are and where
we intend to go as a church family. Ministries were called to create
mission statements to be posted on the wall for all the church family
to see. They are on large pink sticky paper on the back wall of the
fellowship hall. Be sure to read over them and get in where you fit in.
As a church family we have strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and
threats. Between strength and opportunity is where disciples are
made. Between threats and strength is where the battles take place.
Between weakness and opportunities is where frustration lives and
between threats and weakness is where death occurs. As a church we
will not lay down and accept death as our answer. We will serve our
community through better communication, faith, and holy boldness.
We've thrown away the box and will be creating disciples all over our
community in 2015. We will bear witness to the things God has done
in our lives and we will create a movement that can not be undone.
Thank you to all who attended. It was a great learning day.

SOUL PATROL AND YOUTH MINISTRY
AMY AND ANDY BLANKENSHIP
At Sharon UMC we love our youth of all ages. On Sunday mornings we have a preschool class
with Ms. Amy from 9:45-10:00am and then they can enjoy playing in the nursery with Ms.
Jara. We have a K-5 class taught by Ms. Amy from 10-10:45am. Also, from 10-10:45am
middle school through high school ages can
come to a class taught by Mr. Andy and it's all
about the history in the Bible. Parents are
invited to attend this class with their teens.
Nursery is provided during worship for infants
through kindergarten. When the children reach
the 1st grade, they will join us in the sanctuary
for worship!!
That’s not all! Soul Patrol is our community
youth program!! Come join us and bring your
friends. Twice a month we have either a class or a mission for our youth from ages 5 through
high school. Our evening Sunday class is from 5-7:30pm. We have a Bible lesson, music, and
games. We even feed them and give them time to hang out with friends. Our once a month
missions allow the youth a chance to put their faith to work. From walking for diabetes, raising
money and delivering Thanksgiving meals to making blankets for children and landscaping
homes for the elderly, we are the hands and feet of Jesus! Keep an eye on our website for
dates and times of events. You can also email the youth leaders, Andy and Amy, at
[email protected] if you are interested in being added to our Facebook page that gives you
times, dates and pictures of activities!!
